Janet's Essence Music Festival Performance Just had a Record Breaking 72,668 attendance record back in July. Hopefully she might be able to handle this.

Janet Jackson made headlines when she shattered Knowles' attendance record during the 16th Essence Music Festival, held from July 2 to July 4, 2010, commanding a history-making 72,668 member audience, which completely sold out the Louisiana Superdome with a first-ever waiting list for the Festival.

I agree.

I think the last tour turned a lot of people off because of the crazy costumes.

No it was because the media was making her out to be a washed up pop artist.

Exactly. And oh, how wrong they were. Funny, I remember when she performed "Doesn't Really Matter" at the 2000 MTV VMAs, there were articles saying that, basically, her time was done. And then her next album gave her her biggest first-week sales ever. They're always quick to write her off, and then she comes back with a one-two smackdown in their face.

She claims her last few albums and tour sold so badly cause of mediaplay, or lack thereof.

Um no she doesn't. She didn't blame anyone. I do recall her blaming the poor sales of Damita Jo on the music, though. Discipline was because of her label at the time and the lack of interest from the public.

Yea, I remember that. For some reason the media always feels the urge to push her to the side but she refuses to sit down lol Love her.

I highly doubt that her costumes were the reason why "Rockwitchu" Flopped. It was lack of promotion, even though she sold over 700,000 copies with the promotion of only one single.

But when you break it all down, She grossed over 9 million dollars when she only did 16 shows.

Her tour was promoted enough there just wasn't any interest from the public at the time but now there's interest hence why tickets are selling fast.

She selling tickets for her curent tour already? OF course it sells out she's doing small venues.

Bu if they didn't promoye the album and people didn't buy it they're less likely to see her on tour. Hence the low turnout.

I guess confused .

For This Tour, (on Youtube) You see promo videos coming from Janet. But for "Rockwitchu" you saw A lot more promo videos from her fans than her actual record company. And what would the sudden Intrest come from?

It's not called "Up close and personal" for no reason lol

It would be different if it was a huge extravaganza tour, but from what I hear there isn't going to be a whole bunch of props/Special effects. Just Janet. And you're not going to be up close and Personal if you are almost 100 miles away from Janet.lmao.

Um lol. Were you around during the RWU tour? There was promo. I saw commercials, billboards and she popped up on The View, Ellen and the Tyra show. If anything this Number Ones tour is getting less promo. Btw, the sudden interest is obvious. I don't need to explain. It will only derail this thread.

Well, they (her label) thought that even though the album did poorly that people would still see her on tour. But they were wrong lol

No, she's not signed to a label. She's considering going independent but still undecided.

A Janet tour without special effect, not sure if it will be worth seeing. But Janet says this is her biggest our ever but in smaller venues and fewer cities. What's big about that? The only thing that will be big is her butt if I can get upclose. And her breasts, I did happen to get front row for The Velvet Rope Concert. At the end of IGSL she opens nothing like seeing it on TV!!
