I don't like the sound. Like others have said, it lacks melody. Not a good first single choice. She has some good hits, but this isn't one of them.

Just cleared 500 spins on the FIRST DAY. It's a new record. Nice one Britney! I told folks this song would be a radio smash. It's right in the pocket in terms of billboard sound.

It's going to have a big debut, because it's Britney and she's coming off an album that was very successful at Top 40 radio.

Whether or not it has longeivity is another matter. I don't think this song is going to hit #1 at Top 40, like the first two singles from Circus did.

A big debut is an understatement. Rumor has it it just cleared 600 spins which is INSANE.

I think this song will defo hit #1 in the Billboard. Well, we'll just have to wait and see.

Yes, it has hit 600 spins. No, it's not that insane - Mariah Carey had a very similar debut with Touch My Body two years ago.

The label will just toss out anything from her to get the attention back on her, its not really about "whats a good single's choice" at this point anymore for anyone, it will do well, which is good for her because for the most part she actually isnt a strong singles artist, she does more with her albums, which im sure is what the label wants, they would rather a million plus selling album than a top 5 radio hit.

The figures speak for themselves, this shit has probably tripled the airplay of "3" - and that song got played a LOT and was a hit.

Props to Britney, Max Martin and Dr Luke on another hot. And Bonnie McKee too, who's already had a great 12 months with writing "California Gurls" and "Dynamite".

even dynamite and california girls were better than this and at least have melodies

I like the chorus only, that has a slight hint of a melody

not sure if this new "style" is sounding that new, it sounds no different than most dance music and the end makes me think of madonna's sorry or something like that...

It's alright, I wouldn't have worked with Dr Luke right now if I were her but whatever, it's cute.

What exactly is dubstep and when can I hear it on the song?

seriously...... I can see why people hated Madonna for not going away, even though britney has a lot of catchy songs cause of good writers and melodies and such, but she never sounds good on them though sometimes she had ok moments.

Obviously the song is going to have some similarities to other dance songs that are hot at the moment. I gotta give props to Britney though to bringing a little something new to the table with this. The dubstep sound that she flirted with on Freakshow from her Blackout album is on full throttle on this one and that is what sets it apart. Anybody who is hardcore into dance music should be able to hear the difference in this and a Ke$ha or Katy Perry song. Never thought in a million years Britney would be the one to bring something new to the dance/pop music table but she has with this.

Rusko is a good reference point for those who want to hear what dubstep is all about.

I have zero doubt that this song will go to number one. Those airplay numbers are insane for one day and wait until the sales stats come rolling in. I'll just congratulate Britney already on her 4th number one song. biggrin

She brought in a new sound with Toxic, too. Hell, there was nothing around like Baby One More Time, either, when it first came out. It's just what Godney does bow

The song is growing on me, I still don't like the lyrics much though.

24-hours after Britney took back the pop world

In less than 24-hours, Britney Spears has officially won the entire pop music lovin’ world back — need proof? Let's go to the numbers!

Not only did Britney’s new single “Hold It Against Me” rocket to the number one spot on iTunes' singles chart, but it got there in less than eight hours. The only other artist to claim the spot faster was Taylor Swift, with her song “Mine,” which got there in a little under six hours last August.

But Brit's appeal spans the globe as well, with the song claiming number one spots in ten other countries. A figure that keeps rising with every additional hour the song is available for download.

In the world of radio, the track hit a record breaking 705 spins its first day, decimating Mariah Carey’s “Touch My Body," which held the throne with 498 spins back in 2009.

Overall it is Britney’s most played, best selling debut to date. And the hits will keep on coming as the singer also announced that her still untitled album will drop on March 15th -- a disc that will include at least one more Max Martin produced single, titled “I I I Wanna Go."

After only being able to hold onto the iTunes top spot for a sprinkle of a moment with his song “Grenade,” we wonder how Bruno Mars feels about Brit blowing up his spot.

Britney is masquerading as a singer ..... please i just don't get the fuss her career ended long ago ...she all hype living of her past name and marketing budgets!

I think GaGa ended alot of the "Britney" Types career CA looks to be moving on Britney should do the same she can't milk the cow for much longer her older music is not selling and the cost of pushing out another rubbish CD / Download must be costing the record company loads in marketing fees...

She can't sell concert tickets like GaGa worldwide or Madge ....

Time's up ... i guess Glee is the only thing giving her new life.....she been around too long anyway she should count herself lucky to still be able to release any stuff at all in 2011

It is relative, because the panel of stations that is being tracked has also expanded. We have witnessed corresponding new spinpeak records for many #1 songs over the past two years.

Debuts with 705 spins in its first day.

The cost of marketing a Britney album will hit the record company hard in the wallett $$$$$, they have release it in Jan 11 to get ahead of the chasing pack .... but by the end of the year the figures will level out .......

Taxi for Britney! lol

And we have a new spin record for a #1 song practically every month these days, because more and more stations are being tracked by BDS and MediaBase. So, sure, it broke a record, but there will probably be another song this year that breaks this record quite easily - likely the single from Lady GaGa's new album, because GaGa is more successful at the Rhythmic format than Britney is. Two years ago it was huge deal for a song to break 10,000 weekly spins at Top 40 radio, now the #1 song regularly achieves over 13,000 spins simply because the station panel keeps expanding.

Bitch please she's breaking records left and right. Ever since she came out people have been talking about her '15 minutes' and she's still around after 13 years. Her last tour sold out over the globe and banked more than $130 million.

Don't confuse Britney with Floptina.
