Ashford & Simpson Appreciation! Still Solid As A Rock!

Ima loving on ole school music tonight--so I have to show some love for some seriously excellent singers and songwriters--who are not only still performing but still together as a couple after all these years! Amazing! Saw them on PBS last year and they are still "solid as a rock" and loving each other and the music they perform!

What a blast from the past! Thanks for that link! Love seeing Ashford and Simpson back when they were young (I was a little kid LOL). Wish we could post the video--such great music from such an unlikely couple! lol

Here's a song they wrote and produced. The steps are smooth too.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Ya kno what? Yeah. Honestly..I was always kinda catchin some of that......

But their stuff is SOOO good & their story (as a duo & couple) has just washed all that away for me with the passage of time. I love em to death.

Exactly...that's what I mean. It's like that with a lotta "top tier" musical talents. The MATERIAL and the execution is soooooo "next level" you just stop CARING about the esoterica.

Ashford & Simpson are def in that category....just.....awesome.

lol I luv the fact that they are such an unlikely couple that people still question their togetherness as a fluke, facade, or an unnatural act! They have been together forever....

I was lucky enough to meet them after a (fantastic) gig a few years ago and they were just too sweet and genuine. They are a rare kind of producer duo that manage to get the best out of the people they work with. The albums and songs they wrote and produced for Ms Ross, Gladys Knight, Chaka etc are easily among the best of their careers.

Just like the white winged dove...
