Scandalous question

Prince composed Scandalous with John L. Nelson it says on the back of the Batman CD. Is that any relation to prince? I was kind of disappointed when I read that because I like to think Prince did that wonderful song all by himself.

1. Wrong forum.

2. John L Nelson is Prince's father.

3. You don't need to be disappointed. Prince often gave his father writing credits so that he would make some money off the songs. He didn't necessarily write anything on the song, although he may have influenced it in some way.

John L. Nelson was also given credit for co-writing "Computer Blue," "Around The World In A Day," "The Ladder," "Christopher Tracy's Parade" and "Under The Cherry Moon." I think that's all the songs he was given credit for co-writing but I may have missed a couple.

I don't know if it means anything but he was given credit on three consecutive albums (Purple Rain, Around The World In A Day and Parade and then on the next two albums (Sign O' The Times and Lovesexy) he was not but was again with Batman. I always wondered if Prince was at odds with his father circa 1987-1988 and then patched things up in 1989.
