Dunno how much you know about the genre of so-called Electroclash.

But the Human League, Kraftwerk, Bobby O' and Giorgio Moroder are the influences there - not Aretha Franklin, James Brown or Run DMC.

It's just what's popular now.

The artists you list are all pop artists from the USA.

The record companies are giving white artists a more Hip-Pop sound, because Hip-Pop IS pop music in the USA right now.

I presume you're from the USA?

Here in the UK the charts are a little (and I say a *little*) more diverse.

The Disco sucks thing killed off dance music to a large extent in the USA as a widely commercially viable form of music - But in Europe and the UK House music (derived from Disco) was embraced and evolved into many other fragmented forms of dance music, and that includes many forms of pop/chart music.

What about Kelly Osbourne? She's a current pop artist in the USA, she's not doing the Black thing is she? (I don't want to see her do any thing quite frankly, she's shite - but that's another thread).

I would recommend that you download a few tracks by current electronic artists such as Fischerspooner, Ladytron, Ganymede, Lady Kittin and Felix daHousecat (who is Black) and see what the other side of the coin sounds like - you might like it.

Just for the record, I'm sat here listening to Cameo's 12" collection, before that Sly Stone, and before that SWV - So I enjoy all GOOD music, and I care not whom it comes from or the colour of their skin.
