Depends how we define icon.

She definitely has a lot of accolades under her belt, but the biggest impact (in my opinion) - the true testament of an icon - is leaving an imprint in the music industry and inspiring others. Awards don't do that. The cultural impact an artist has is the true mark of an icon (again, in my opinion).

Yes, a very long time ago, and esp since it doesn't take much to become one these days a la Lady Gaga...

People say 'if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all' but i say 'IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT ANYTHING TO SAY THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!'

I always knew she was pop icon material, but I think she got too many free passes with her first solo album. I wasn't feeling her solo work till the second album and by then the first album work had grown on me. I think she has peaked though. I think she should put out a Christmas album and make it better than the old one with DC, do one more album and take it easy, even though I do like her and go to her tours and love her as a person.

i get what you're saying, i think the live performances is better than her music, her album showed a little growth than the first two, next year she'll be 30 she should make album that have a classic feel to it b/c thei first two kinda the same vibe

Yeah I agree completely, I like her live a lot, it's different from her album tracks for sure and she's a great performer. And I said from day one she should have been making classic albums, cause I wasn't feeling her with her first album right away.

What does Gaga have to with this? lol

Gaga writes her own songs, plays piano, sings every song LIVE...on the other hand, we have Beyonce, who CLAIMS to write her own songs, have never touched a musical instrument and performs 70% pre-recorded vocal shows...come on

lol at all of that bullshit that just so happens to be irrelevant to the topic.

Gaga co-writes JUST like Beyoncé, the only reason you idiots don't jump on her is because she's white and therefore not a threat to your "real R&B singers".

Beyoncé has played piano and guitar. She just doesn't anymore because she doesn't have to. KI!

"Telephone" isn't live (and the studio version, like so many of her songs, is autotuned - Beyoncé's verse WASN'T, and it actually had a vocal arrangment).

Beyoncé writes her own songs, and has always maintained this. She has NEVER said that she writes them alone.

70% pre-recorded lol sit DOWN. Even if that were TRUE, that 30% that would BE live is and will ALWAYS be better than any other bitch to touch a mike. Yes, ANY.

Yes. She will never be forgotten. She's not in the same league as a Michael Jackson or Madonna yet, pop icons AND legends but yes she's done enough to be remembered as a pop icon. Her, Britney, Justin, and even Usher have bigger legacies than the Ashanti's, Trey Songz's, Ciara's, Chris Brown's, etc.

Girl, sit in an electric chair.

"She need to go away for a while" WHY? If she is irritating you, you CAN just get a gun and blow your frontal lobe away. You can still live without being able to hear or see her. smile

And plenty of people say that the Holocaust did not happen, does that mean it didn't? What's more, WHO said she doesn't? A bunch of know-nothing niggers on a forum? lol

Get a backbone, and then an opinion.

babybugz, you really don't wanna get into a heated argument with Beyonce's stans. They are ruthless, fearless, and will do anything to protect their Queen Bee. I'd advise you to just end the back and forth, it will only get worse. TRUST ME!

Beyonce became a pop icon when she went solo with Dangerously In Love and effectively ended Ashanti, Monica, and Brandy's careers.

Playing Devil's Advocate, it was the videos to "Crazy in Love" and "Single Ladies" that put her in the icon status, especially the latter one if we want to be specific lol

The Single Ladies video put her over the top. Yup. She was already one but when that was released it was really certified. Kinda like Billie Jean & Beat it came before Thriller but when the latter premiered the shit hit the fan for real.
