So was Levi Stubbs. We can agree on one thing about Motown: their level of talent between men and women were equal. No other label since (save for Atlantic, Stax and Philadelphia International) had a roster that GIFTED! nod

But yeah Anna also used to boss him around.

Ruffin was so amazing to me, Marvin said he was a ruffin fan, and developed that growl because of it. I love singers who can credibly bring the church, where would sould music be without preacher's sons? Sam, Dave, marvin all preachers sons and all very conflicted souls which gave they gave to the music.

I love David's voice too. I'm actually glad Marvin said that because he was right. And yeah all of them (Sam Cooke included) were preacher's sons with conflicted souls but they sure gave a hell of a lot to us. nod

I've always liked this a lot. smile

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

the secret life of plants is one of STEVIE'S greatest works, ever!!! 'earth's creation' and 'tree' are two of the greatest pieces on this planet. it's an underrated work, for sure.

When Motown released remastered Stevie CDs around 2000, they skipped Plants and did the album after it.

I think Japan has a remastered version now, but the US version is still the same one from the late 1980's. In the US, the only albums to get remastered are everything from Music Of My Mind up to Songs In The Key Of Life. Then Hotter Than July and Musiquarium. That's it. But I have the original record of Plants, so I don't really need the remastered CD.

i have two copies on vinyl (one is hanging on the wall), so i don't need the disc either. i actually have four copies of talking book for some reason. and doubles of innervisions.

I wonder why hmmm I know it wasn't a massive seller like the other albums, but it's still an important album to Stevie fans.A fresh remaster is needed.

Thank you very much I appreciate it. All of the instrumentals were gathered through the past ten years of collecting and searching the internet...E-Bay at times. Stuff like that. smile
