Do you think they distract from the song, or add to it?

Try and think of a song that you've only seen on TV. What's the first thing that comes to mind, the visual or the audio?
A lot of the so called hits of today base a lot on the video and I can't really concentrate on the song itself, like the arrangements or lyrics, but more of the storyline of the visual.

I don't like music videos. yes, they do take away from the music.
Rarely they contribute to a good song.
I feel that they're usually there to cover up for a bad song, by making a good video.

Depends on the video really. I remember the video for Foo Fighters song Everlong which was basically a tribute to the movie The Evil Dead and i thought it completely made you forget about the song. The irony is the video is entertaining but it does nothing for the song itself.

Then again you have videos like Let Forever Be by The Chemical Brothers which is pure genius and enhances a already excellent song.

it truly depends on the Song.it's a Catch 22 you know?take "November Rain" by Guns&Roses: it adds a whole different dimension to that Song.I was already loving that song&then you get that vibe&it's on time for me.but some other times it leaves a blank to me.

depends on what video it is. Nowadayas, yes, it does take away from the song(which in many cases isn't that great)

I like the old videos, you know, where it just showed them on stage singing it, I really like just watching a the singer/band just sing/play it, that way it doesn't take away from the song as much.

There are very few videos I like because a lot of them don't even make sense sometimes...
