This doesn't apply to everyone because I come from the latter generation (born in 1991) and I support both MJ and Prince (massive MJ fan since I was five, discovered Prince 2 years ago). I agree however that the kind of music that my generation listens to is shit. I always cringe at the songs that my friends and people around my age listen to.

I agree to an extent because TONS of the icons from Madonna to prince to MJ and others benefited from the "visuals" of videos, which in turn was about image, though maybe not packaged the same way as today, its the same idea.
