Kim Kardashian Previews Track Produced By The-Dream

Kim Kardashian rang in 2011 by making her first foray into the music world, as the reality TV star premiered her debut single at a New Year's Eve party at TAO nightclub in Las Vegas.

In a video that captured the song's unveiling, Kardashian is seen giving the crowd a brief introduction before launching into a new song that advises, "Turn it up, DJ!"

"I didn't mean to, but I did this song with The-Dream, and it's really fun! I hope you guys like it!" Kardashian, 30, tells the crowd. Reportedly titled "Turn It Up," the song features a steady dance beat, R&B-inflected pop production by The-Dream and a percussion-heavy breakdown.

Kardashian, who has parlayed tabloid and reality TV fame into a business empire, also alluded to her musical side project on Twitter over the holidays, writing, "2011 is all about trying new things and going for it! I'm starting mine [with] something fun and crazy!"

Along with The-Dream, Kardashian is rumored to be working with Kanye West on her forthcoming debut album, after the two were spotted outside a California recording studio on Dec. 28th.

Kardashian also posted a pair of photos on Twitter that are believed to be the first images from her first music video shoot: in one, she sports a white fur and "Bo Derek braids," while the other shows her rocking sunglasses and red highlights.

Reality show celebrities need to learn their place. There is a big difference between being a celebrity (Paris Hilton, Kim K, Antione Dobson, etc.) and being a STAR. Hardworking people in the entertainment business hone their crafts for years in order to be able to do what they do. This chick fucked her way into fame and I guess now she feels that she has somehow "outgrown" her reality show box and has started to believe the hype of her "yesgirls" who follow her around , telling her how great she is. "Oh Kim, you can sing!" 'Oh Kim, you should do an album!" "Paris did a CD, Kim!" And now this chick thinks she can buy her way into the music business by hiring the right people. She can.

The music business is done. Shows like American Idol have helped devalue music along with quality control going to pieces. Now, every idiot with an MPC and an autotune plugin believes they are Mozart and every chick who can shake her ass in front of a camera thinks she is a pop star. Television has been the worst thing to happen to the music industry in recent history. Music should not be able to be distracted by visuals.

I'm fed up with celebritart attention whores with attitudes acting fools and being rewarded for it. WTF is wrong with everybody? How the fuck is watching other peoples' lives passing for entertainment these days? These fools are not professionals and as long as people support it, it will remain a staple in our society. We will get CDs from Kim Kardashian, music videos from Antonie Dobson and movies from The Situation or who-the-fuck-ever. I shouldn't even know dude's name. I don't watch any of those shows and yet these weak distractions still seem to somehow seep onto peoples' radars. I want to go back to the day where people had to sing and dance for their suppers instead of parading around in front of a camera saying 'I'm me, look at me" with an attitude.

Kim is cute but has no business in music. This also reinforces what I have been saying about the Dream for ages. He's a hack.

I totally agree EXCEPT for what you said about American Idol. I think the music industry is in such a bad place, that A.I. is one of the few places promoting people because of some actual musical ability (even if they are not promoting creativity).

Stars like Kim, Paris, and even Britney would never survive American Idol

But don't get me wrong, I have never had any desire to buy the album of someone on that show. I'm just saying they require a bare minimum of musical talent to be on the show, and the music industry does not even require that!

I don't agree with the statement about Idol. It's just a reality show disguised as a talent contest. Why you think it got heavy ratings in early episodes? Because people are attracted to the madness created by the people they allow to audition.

true it's staged (the bad auditions), and it'a a reality show, and the best people don't always win, but I have not seen anyone win that did not have some ability to sing, and I can say that about quite a few "singers" who came into the industry through other means.

Most of them don't last, true, but Carrie Underwood is a legitimate singer. She's the biggest star in country, and that is not a fluke.

I think it's only because she was driven to succeed and escape the Idol shadow. Not too many have been able to escape it with the exceptions of Carrie, Jennifer and probably Daughtry.

But wouldn't you say Ruben, Fantasia, and even Clay are moderately talented singers? Certainly better than Britney Spears

No doubt but unfortunately they're all stuck in ruts. I agree they're moderately talented at what they do but I don't think their career options have helped them. It may help Fantasia a bit but I guess Ruben and Clay are settled at where they're at. shrug

American Idol is NOT about music or the music industry. Its a format. Its basically a slick way of selling a reality show that's no different from Paris or Kim's show with the exception of the fact that you are watching someone sing.

That's why they just change the activities of reality shows and give them different names. "So you think you can dance" "Dancing With the Stars", etc. They are all the same garbage. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the music industry. Its a big ass karaoke contest with a stricter format.

The characters change every season. That's not how the music business works. All you are doing is watching someone's life journey for a season...just like a reality show. Then, you watch someone else, then someone else, then someone else and so on.

Its thye WORST offender of them all because it has such a large following and the general public is deceived into believing that they somehow have control or a choice in what or who, when in fact, its all contrived from day 1 and the selections are very specific. Its a reality show. Its not about music. Sorry, but its true.

yeah that's a valid argument that it's actually the worst thing for the industry because it is disguised in some cloak of being a legitimate search for talent when it's really just a TV show

All I'm saying is I'll take Carrie Underwood over Kim K any day. Kim K has a contract because she is pretty, Carrie did at the very least have to show up with a voice week after week.

But I do acknowledge what you say, because I have zero A.I. cd's in my collection. So ultimately it has done nothing to change the industry as far as my personal tastes are concerned.
