But still, don't be threatening ish if you wont be missed. lol

These chicks come a dime a dozen nowadays, here for a minute and gone in 10 seconds. Ms. Sullivan's melodramatic tweets on twitter. rolleyes Someone is going to come along sounding just like her (cuz they all sound the same) with the same ol' tried production tricks and hype. I'll give Ms. Sullivan some credit, at least she's checking out before the 3rd album and yo' butt is threw, she's skipping out after album #2.

skip on & bye.

NEXT!

Her rendition of "home" when she was 11 still gives me chills. She definitely got talent. Hope she'll be alright.

I saw her perform a few months ago, when she opened for Mary J. Blige (I was really there to see El Debarge, who also performed that night)

She definitely has a good voice, but her stage presence was not that impressive. Maybe she was already feeling the burnout that she's claiming now, but she didn't seem that into the performance. They had her doing a kind of a Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal theme dance routine and it didn't really work. There was definitely a disconnect between her and the audience.

She's talented, and I hope she works on her music more.

Identity

I n-joyed her debut disc a lot and I was hoping she would distinguish her as a budding singer/songwriter. Maybe she's dispirited by the lukewarm first- week sales of the new CD, Love Me Back. I hope she hangs in there--and delete that Twitter account! wink

The first album went gold; the latest one sold 57K copies its first week.

I noticed that in her performance on the Soul Train Music Awards. I wasn't impressed and felt that maybe she's losing her identity with herself. Maybe trying to find out what her true style is because it seems like her dance routines are forced and you can tell she really wasn't into it. Perhaps there is pressure there for her to lose weight as well. Seems like the only R&B singer who doesn't mind having meat on her bones is Jill Scott. shrug

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Sounds like the record company is trying to turn her into something that she doesn't want to be. They probably want her 2 be a bit more crossover and lose a few pounds (like Jennifer Hudson). IDK.

To me, she is a decent singer, but needs the right guidance to become a great performer. I know she's young, but young performers today think they need a ton of backup dancers and vocal acrobatics and that's not necessary all of the time.

Me either. I'd probably been more accepting if Jazzy decided to take a break without releasing the second album. Just saying.

Exactly, she's one of the artists that I was referring to. Her, Ne-Yo, Jazmine have all abandoned their recent releases in record time. I mean the project goes from being "my best work" to "my fans/audience deserves my best". Do they expect people to get amnesia within a week or two of their release? razz

I think they say that thinking people will automatically buy it and when they don't, that's when they change their stories. Unless it's from your heart, don't even say that because it just make you seem like you only care about the money than making something that would be of good value musically. Sure you wanna sell but don't give up after a week. I think artists got too spoiled in the late 1990s and early 2000's thinking that they will always pull in 350-500K and it just doesn't work that way. It never did. People get easily blinded by that. Ne-Yo and Christina were from eras where selling 350K plus was good enough where they didn't have to push for sales to go.

I'm not going to judge.

Who the hell knows what she's been through and with whom for the last 2 years?

I don't. So I'm going to chalk it up to the kid knowing what's best for her own self-preservation at this point in time. coffee

Totally agree. Artists these days don't know how to work a record. I wish Jazzy the best though. I'd rather see her regroup and stay true to herself, than sell out as more than likely her label (J Records, Clive Davis) is pressuring her to do. sad

The way you're saying it I can feel for Jazzy in that degree because it's tough to be in the industry and stay true to yourself. People will fake it to go a million copies.

I bet she just had a bad day and reacted melodramatically. Just like when I tell my bf I've decided to quit my job, but then I change my mind the next day. I love Jazmine! She needs to stay in the game.

You see i can understand her...but she is walking away from music, thats different, she isnt walking out of her label deal or anything like that, she isnt saying "next album im going indie" she is just saying its basically over for her and music, which to me, screams, drama queen. Now Jazmine is actually good and now reducing yourself to "tweets" about what you "love doing" i cant really get behind her in that respect, i mean what are you pissed at, if its the label, i mean what did you expect, i mean every other day is another RB male of female crying about their sales and then next day saying "oh i need to do better music" man, if you cant stand behind your work, fail or sail than you need to get a day job.

Sometimes it can be gray depending on what the weatherman says. lol But, yeah her album didn't sell alot of copies. If that's the only definition for the term 'flop' than the album flopped, but it at least got good reviews so it's not a total loss IMHO. nod

The biz ain't for everybody. I can only imagine how many shady, fake people have to be dealt with on the regular.

There's so much pressure to follow a formula rather than allowing an artist to express their own vision. I think a big problem is that a lot of her material isn't really her style. She has a good voice but I don't think her heart is in the way she is being packaged.
