right now, they're doing the line dance and the song is "Wide Receiver" by Michael Henderson this must be an episode from 1980.

These are all the epsiodes that Centric have been running for over the past year.
I'm tired of Centric and Soul Train. Soul Train has over thousands of episodes, yet the continue to run the same 15 or so episodes every day ... PRINCE: Always and Forever

I'm now watching the Patrice Rushen/Sugarhill Gang episode from 1981 the first song played is Rick James' "Give It To Me Baby"

Yeah,it's kinda annoying the way they keep repeating the same episodes over and over.

They haven't shown Marvin's episode either. I bet they won't show Aretha's until they get confirmation that she's on the other side...which is real low for them to do if they do it that way. Fucking punks.

Naw, there is an Aretha episode they run on the regular, but yeah no Marvin and they show him in the commercial. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Did she only appear on one episode of "Soul Train"? They haven't shown her 1979 show...unless she just guest appeared on it. But yeah they haven't shown Marvin's. Ticks me off.

Probably from the first or second season. She did Rock Steady and some other cuts. PRINCE: Always and Forever

From her outfit and the red Afro, I think she did her episode in late 1973, around the time she released "Until You Come Back to Me", around the time she was leaving her "Afrocentric" period (1970-1973).

This is ridiculous.I wonder if there's a licensing problem,or some other reason why they can't show different episodes.

Now they're showing the episode with Anita Baker and Gregory Abbott.....a mid-80s epsiode that Vainandy would love

I always loved watching Soul Train in the mid-80s. I could never forget watching the soul train on a Saturday afternoon with my bowl of Cheerios. I tune in for the fashion and latest dance steps and my brother tune in to watch the femaie dancers. The Centric channel seems to show the same ole vintage shows from the mid-70s its ok but I prefer the music from the 80s. Watching the show you could tell what year this show was recorded. I got to watch the asian girl with the long hair or Lou-Ski with the dark shades. lol

They showed a 2-hour documentary 'Soul Train:The Hippest Trip In America' which I had never seen before. It was very well done.

I get so tired of Centric replaying these episodes...I recently got this 9-disc DVD set for Christmas from Timeline Entertainment. Very expensive, but well-worth it and there are also vintage Afro Sheen commercials and a bonus 1987 Soul Train Music Awards DVD to boot. Haven't opened it up yet, but it looks promising. Has anyone gotten it yet or considered on buying it?

^^ I have that entire DVD set.I bought it last year when it was first released. It's contains some incredible performances (Marvin Gaye,Al Green,Jackson Five,James Brown, etc) but I wish they included the entire episodes. It's a trip watching those old Afro-Sheen commercials That's a nice treat and it takes you right back to the 70s.I'm glad they included that.
I haven't watched all the DVDs yet.

There are more episode-details available at Search results for Soul Train on TV.com
Previously tv.com had a better overview of the seasons and episodes, which would be easier to copy-paste my request list. But some wild 80's episodes including : Aurra, Bar-Kays, Bernard Wright, Bill Summer & Summers Heat, Bobby Nunn, Brick, Dazz Band, Deele, D-Train, Cameo, Juicy, Kiddo, Magic Lady, Mantra, Mtume, O'Bryan, Ozone, Randy Hall, Real To Reel, Skyy, Slave, The System, Thomas McClary, Zapp, Zoom ...
I mean this here below. Besides Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, this is the second-rarest footage available of Slave with Steve Arrington.
