Janet MISS YOU MUCH Shep Pettibone Remix

The beat from Madonna's Vogue was derived from one of Shep's Miss You Much remixes. Apparently, Shep thought the beat was too good to leave as just a remix, so he diddled with the arrangement and it became the beat to Vogue. (note to mods: I wanted to put this in the "Discuss Everything Janet Jackson" thread, but it was closed).

Never knew this, i thought the sound was used in many remixes at that time but hearing it again, you're right! it has the same strugture as the vogue, very cool wink

by the way, miss you much has so many great remixes, the whole RN album does, remember buying every single remix that was released from it

Yes, Shep's remixes are always ear candy. I found this particular bit of trivia interesting myself, as I'd always thought the beat for Vogue was created for that song specifically. MYM really does have a lot of excellent remixes. I particularly like the "Mama" Mix, it's awesome!

it's really good, I haven't heard this one though I have the Miss You Much single on LP

too bad this doesn't get airplay like Vogue does, it also reminds me of the Escapade remix

Yeah, those Escapade remixes are great as well. I particularly love this one:

It's a remix, yes, but it sounds more like a dub to me. Not too much verses/chorus. Just a lot of beats and adlib. I like the music best set to Vogue than to Miss You Much. The Mama Mix is the one to listen to, I'd say.

^^Yes, it's a dub mix, but I found it interesting that Shep originally created the basic beat that everyone knows as the Vogue beat for a remix on a Janet song.

That Vogue interlude is famous... and all this time, it originated from a song by Janet? I'm not a huge Madonna fan, but Vogue was one of my fav classic songs from her... and I'm so happy to know that it started with Janet. Even more reason to love Janet!

what she should be thankful 4? I mean shep was paid 2 produce the song, and janet has nothing 2 do with those beats

LOL regardless, maybe Vogue wouldn't be that classic song we all know if Shep hadn't've had a "lightbulb" moment, and decided to use the beat he'd created for a Janet track for it...

yeah I agree with that

and don't get me wrong, I am a madonna fan, I just don't like it when people don't get credit and this is one of those things

Janet was obviously the inspiration behind the making of 'Vogue'. Deal with it.

Thank you. I hear elements in this beat directly taken from Miss You Much, part of which was used in Vogue, but I didn't notice it before until now. I actually put on Vogue last night when listening to music and heard it. Both are classics, but in this case, Janet owned her, and now I feel a little bit upset that the general public remembers Vogue more than Miss You Much.

Give you a break? Well, genius - Shep mixed MYM and after produced Vogue for Madonna meaning Janet was indeed the inspiration behind the making of Vogue. I'm not pulling this out of my ass.

The universe...no. The beat for Vogue...yes! (Okay, technically Shep created the beat for the MYM remix/Vogue, but it was created for a Janet song first...)

or it's something he was working on independent of either one of them on his own and applied different iterations of it to both of them.

whatever, man...for me its like sayin that madonna inspired janet 2 exposse her tit, becuz madonna did it first...I mean no sense....but anyway, it''s just my opinion, I shake my ass 2 both songs... I didn't mean 2 start an argument...it's just becuz 2 me it sounds so absurd 2 say that janet inspired vogue just becuz she comissioned a remix...but anyway merry x-mas 2 y'all and peace
