Sales don't matter as much to me as it probably did eight years ago. You grow up and discover sales ain't shit if the material is good, fuck it.

As i said, these MJ-fams still have some twisted idea about MJ being the 'best' because he did sell the most albums, while they don't know shit and /or don't seem to care about other types of music.

Is this the only fanboard you have ever been to in your short life? Have you ever spoken to any Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Beatles, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Elvis, and Pink Floyd stans/fans? EVER?!

Have you read an Elvis v. Beatles v. MJ debate? Have you seen the amount of insanity that goes on between all those stans debating which of their idol is better because of who has sold the most? Had the most #1 hits? Has the most platinum records?! Has the most single sales? Have you ever even talked with fans of rock music and how high on their horse they are about their favorite genre of music? What you are talking about isn't only limited to MJ stans, but applies to many others as well. I suggest that you go onto other music fanboards and see the same craziness that awaits you there.

Why should i visit these other boards?

Just because people on her act crazy, i should follow the same attitude... no way

What does matter to you, unholy alliance?

The moment you are touched by a song or composition? or the number of records somebody sells?

I'm in no way underrating her because that's not possible. She's beyond overrated. Not every pop tart out there is inspired by her or compared to her. Madonna isn't the be all and end all of female artists in Pop music. Case closed.

Whether they admit it or not,all of those female pop artists are trying to accomplish what Madonna did. Those ladies would kill for the type of longevity that Madonna has had.Rihanna has said that she is aiming to become "the black Madonna" and even Nikki Minaj has said something similiar.

But how do you know this, though? You don't.

You were making some grossly inaccurate generalizations and broad assumptions about an entire group of people based on your limited knowledge on the subject. I suggested that you take the time to educate yourself on the matter so you would stop talking out of your ass. You are being no better than the people you are accusing of being ignorant.

I already answered this question earlier in this thread.

Unholly alliance, learn to live with artists who express themselves and not automatically selling millions of albums.

If anything, you are holding things back with your boring, subjective pose.

Good luck with MJ the greatest lip syncher of all time wink

I care about sales to the extent that an artist I enjoy can keep supporting themselves and putting out their music regularly and easily. When sales are so low that an artist can't tour, remain on their label and record etc, that is where I feel concern.

SALES have been replaced by youtube views, iTunes downloads and international tours...

many people (old timers, usually, no offense) hate this modern age of youtube and iTunes, but believe me, the 00s have been very easy & kind for new artists/bands than the 60s and 70s (with that nasty vinyl competition) or the 80s/90s, which were dominated by Billboard and Cd sales...

There's a difference between popularity and respect. Some of the most admired figures in history haven't matched the sales acclaim of others but at the end of the day respect *I believe* means much more. Mariah Carey may have outsold Aretha Franklin but she will never be the legend, icon, and national treasure she is. Bob Dylan, same thing. Instant respect. I don't think none of his studio albums did anything past triple platinum but so what? His role during the 60s, 70s, civl rights efforts, etc. outway everything else. Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder...More respected than popular. Madonna and Michael Jackson are more popular than respected. Britney Spears...Popular, not respected. Then there are high levels of both like the Beatles. Popular AND respected pretty much down the middle.

Madonna not respected??? Really?

Don't agree

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
