According to the Janet Jackson site, it appears that LA, New York, and Chicago shows have sold out.

Are you serious? Didnt she JUST add shows there yesterday?

Why are you shocked? She's performing in 3K to 6K capacity theaters so of course she's gonna sell-out. Janet performed to more on her last tour.

I think since Michael's sad passing .... not just her normal hardcore fans want tickets ...but alot of fans of pop music that missed the whole "Jackson" magic .... a young cousin of mine didn't even know Michael had a sister in her words "LIKE HIM ...REALLY" ...lol

All Janet needs to do is produce 1 classic RnB/Dance/Pop CD and she's number 1 all around the world ....drop all the un-sexy stuff just go back to the pop Janet...cool

Now I don't always agree with you, but I know what you mean by the "un-sexy" stuff, which is actually what Janet's team thinks is sexy.

Don't make me post the "I've been slimed and I'm in bondage" pics.

Yea, I agree. Most of the people buying tickets are possibly just going to say "I saw Janet Jackson live...". Since MJ's passing I've noticed more people are interested in her which is sad but whatever.

Tbh, Janet is not gonna go #1 around the world if she releases a classic R&B/Dance/Pop record. Most of her fans thought 'Nothing' and her Number Ones album were going to do really well but ... lol

lol Of course the young crowd wouldn't be as familiar with Janet. They weren't really familiar with MJ (Pre-death) except him being the "Monster" that the media portrayed him as.

I Guess.

But I'm looking at it from a different angle. If she's selling out 6k capacity shows and adding more shows. Then at the end of the day that's 12k people coming to see you in just one city. That's about the same audience as being in an average size arena. Isnt it?

It may not be 12,000 different people though. How many of those people are going both nights? Can't do that if it's only one show with double the capacity.

I would imagine some may have known a song or two cause of janet being more musical active than michael eg. all for you....but mj's songs were ALWAYS more remembered than janet's. No one ever seems to remember janet songs regardless of how successful they were, it's unfortunate that she is criminally underrated at times.

confuse What? No. I meant that if she sales out a 6K show, and she adds another show and it sales out. All together that's 12k people coming to one CITY. I'm aware that 12k people arent going to both shows of course. It's not enough room, and It's not that type of tour.lol

Yes, Sadly she is cry .

But my point is that The Older crowd is more prone to remember Janet's/Michael's songs than the Younger crowd UNLESS they were expose to MJ and Janet.Of course everyone has heard of Beat it,Billie Jean, or THRILLER. Nonetheless I'm pretty sure Everyone has atleast heard of "Nasty", "Together Again".etc

yeah I really hate that cause I was exposed to mj since I was about 2 or 3 in the 80's and even though I didn't become a huge fan till years later, I always knew when he was around from afar and can't imagine others not knowing. I found that some were into him as kids, and others weren't or caught up later. I was somewhere in between a kid and late bloomer (HIStory era). Though some say he's from our parents generation and it's true too, I don't completely relate

As for janet, she kept having hits, but people in my age group, after the janet. era were not feeling her as much and I didn't get why, it would only be sometimes or by people born in 79' and before and occasionally those my age

Yeah, I usually hear about her not sounding as good after "The Velvet Rope" era as well. Probably because Everything prior to "All For You" was more-so "Grown Folks music". The "All for you album" (Now that I think about it) sounded like it was trying to appeal to a younger crowd, and the older crowd just wasnt feeling it, I guess.

What I'm saying is what if 4,000 of those people are going to both shows? Then it's only 8,000 people coming to see you in one city, not 12,000.

yeah I found the pop crowd liked together again, the r&b crowd liked I Get Lonely and remember some friends had the singles but it was cause they liked the janet. era a lot and will still play If till this day. But not many had the album, when I thought it was such a masterpiece and I call it my "teen angst album" lol I just felt people my age were into teen pop or r&b/hip hop and the timing may have just been bad for VR to drop. It was a good era though , and I got to go to my first janet concert and meet her, the beginning of that for me. Will be going to my 7th and 8th janet sighting for the coming shows.

but I also noticed once she dropped what's it gonna be, doesn't really matter and to an extent all for you, people were liking her again and then were silly with the superbowl though I remember some loving all nite don't stop. I wish that was the first single and performed there, then no one would have cared....but I do like JALW though not as a first choice single

What IF she were to have done a Arena WITH the capacity of 12k. You dont think she would be capable of Selling out The arena? Despite both of her L.A shows equating to a 12k capcity?

No, dear - you don't get it.

You're trying to compare Janet selling out two theater tour dates to selling out an arena. lol lol lol lol BTW, I'm sure she can sell out the Staples center considering she has done it before with the RWU tour but I wouldn't compare Janet selling out 6k seats for two different dates to selling out 12k for one date.
