It sounds like riverpoet to me. I could be wrong but it sounds just like him. I've gotten into it with him several times before. He knows I love Rick James and he also knows I love disco which are two things he hates. If it is riverpoet, that is why he continuously calls Rick James disco and with Teena Marie being a former member of the Rick James camp, that's why he's placing the disco label on her also (as if that's a bad thing, hell that's a fucking compliment as far as I'm concerned). What really makes me think it is him, is he made a comment in the other thread about Cameo being disco also. Riverpoet did that once before when we got into it.

Rick, did not "start out", as a funk artist. He in fact, started out years before in a group called the "Myna Byrds". Ths group also featured a cat named, Neal Young. As with Rick, I don't like Teena's ballads (with the exception of "Portuguese Love" and maybe a few others -- depending on mood). Those are overwrought with emotion, but their uptempo funk: "Super Freak", "Square Biz", "You & I", "Behind The Groove" discotize if you will, is top-drawer stuff you build a career on. Make no mistake, I absolutely loathe "Fire and Desire".

For the record: I can't stand most of Prince's ballads either!
