911 calls are sometimes the hardest to hear anyway, I hate 911 calls in general because it's scary when someone, be it a celebrity or an average joe, has to report someone unconscious or dead.

I wish I didn't listen, I feel horrible right now. That poor girl.

me too. Dang, now her death just seems so more real to me... from a clinical standpoint.

I'm so sorry her daughter had to experience that. Hopefully that memory will fade and the great close ones she and Teena formed through out their time together will be all that she looks back on.

God bless her and the whole extended family. What a loss. sad

Ugh I hate Twitter every day I wake up. I keep going to Google News on Aretha or Teena and usually some other news would pop up in relation...

Well wouldn't you believe those smart-asses at Twitter after scaring everyone about Aretha made not one, not two, but THREE death hoaxes today!

The first was Adam Sandler.

The second was Eddie Murphy.

The third was Owen Wilson.

no you don't. you're all over this place making disparaging claims about Jay-Z's and Beyonce's and Rihanna's imagined religious practices.

[Edited 12/29/10 18:16pm]

Complaining about a celebrity showing off symbols (demonic OR otherwise) IN THE PUBLIC EYE and requesting copies of PRIVATE 911 phone calls are not the same thing.

And quite frankly, I find you being banging out of order for falsely accusing me for not valuing a person's right to privacy. Not to mention that you're picking a wrong time and the wrong thread to be a troll.

I keep reading that Teena never received a Grammy, so I had to search this out because I couldn't believe that SHIT.

Well it is true. Guess what else is fucking true???

Some Grammy winners for best female RB performance:

Mary J. Blige

Alicia Keys

Beyonce (y'all now this shit is wrong on so many levels... that Beyonce- yes, Teena Marie-no)

Toni Braxton

Whitney Houston

Lauryn Hill

Stephanie Mills

No Teena Marie????!!!! WTF

And even when they gave an award to Patti Labelle, she had to "share" the honors with Lisa Fischer back in 1992.

Foch the Grammy. That is what I say.

The moment U2's The Joshua Tree won 1987 Album Of The Year over Michael's Bad AND Prince's Sign 'O' The Times, I was saying F*** The Grammy Awards even then.

I didn't know that. Honestly they should just stop it.

your outrage is based on the false assumption that 911 calls are private. they are not. they are a government service, funded by taxpayers, therefore subject to FOI requests.

REALLY TWITTER!?! REALLY!?!

I've never been on Twitter, but Bill Cosby has been reported dead twice on the internet. I didn't see it myself, but Bill was on the radio saying it wasn't true. But death rumors are not that new either, there was that whole Paul McCartney was decapitated in a car wreck and the Beatles were using a double starting with the Sgt Pepper album. You can play certain songs backwards or look at clues on the album covers to get the evidence. Then there was Sam Cooke dying of leukemia. Sam even made a little joke about this on the Live At The Harlem Square Club album.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I see not only has the media inaccurately said Teena was the first white artist signed to Motown, but also they're still reporting the wrong year (she was signed in 1975, not 1979), and despite her closeness to Rick, was NEVER a protege.

It's funny how when someone does obituaries on celebrities, they always get some information wrong...and don't bother to correct them. I doubt it's the Motown PR machine behind this anyway.

Teena Marie death cause unclear; no trauma signs

The Associated Press

Posted: 12/29/2010 06:12:47 PM PST

LOS ANGELES—Investigators say an autopsy on R&B singer Teena Marie revealed no signs of trauma, but it likely will be weeks before a cause of death will be determined.

Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said Wednesday that toxicology tests that could determine Marie's cause of death take about six weeks.

Winter says her body showed no signs of trauma and no illegal drugs were found in the Pasadena home where she died.

Marie, the singer of hits like "Lovergirl" who was often called the "Ivory Queen of Soul," was found unresponsive by family members in her home on Sunday. She was 54.

Police said in a statement that the death appeared to be from natural causes.

Yeah, if you've ever seen the Jay Leno show, he has real 911 calls played of people calling it for silly reasons or "dumb criminals" incriminating themselves somehow. None of these people are celebrities.

Yeah. Even though it's infuriating to some degree, 911 calls have always been played on the news, which can be as crummy. That's why I avoid TMZ because they and the cable news channels are no different from each other, really.

Then there's shows like Cops and Cheaters. Some of the people might choose to have their faces blurred out or pixellated, but it's still broadcast.

Teena & Michael were recording artists, NOT politicians on taxpayers' payroll.

If they are only recording artists, why did the FBI kept files on MJ, John Lennon, Elvis Presley, Paul Roberson, etc. What about those McCarthy era "Hollywood Communist" blacklists decades ago? Why did the government start those payola trials only when Rock N Roll became popular? They had no problem with it before then, nor with the mafia running the entertainment business.

OFF-TOPIC: According to Ringo Starr, Elvis Presley (who was U.S. secret agent) was the one that told the FBI & the CIA that they need to take John Lennon as a threat during to Lennon's socialist views. THIS is the same CIA that in later years would be close to the area where Lennon was murdered by Mark David Chapman, and they didn't do a damn thing to prevent it at all.

As for Michael Jackson (without going into too much detail), there is already a video footage on YouTube when Michael admitted that he was always consider a threat in pop culture because he was the first black male recording artist that non-black teenage girls worldwide ever had a crush on, especially at the height of Thriller-mania AND the Bad era. This alone was more than enough for the FBI to be "convince" that a black man like Michael had too much influence over the youths.

BACK ON-TOPIC: A couple of pages earlier, I had a small list of r&b/soul legends (including Teena & Michael) that have died within the age of 50-something or younger since the year 1999. I've never said OR hinted that it was a conspiracy. But despite what I did said (HINT: when I said "Conspiracy?", exactly like that with a question mark that means that we don't know the evidences yet) and what I did NOT say, I will still have some orgers (whom names I will not mention) that wasted no time wanting people to "sweep this under the rug" and pretend that we can not have the right to saying exactly what we think AND how we feel when we know that something is not right within any news report.

But nonetheless, I still wonder why Teena was forced to wait a whole 3 weeks before she was able to see a neurologist. I know I told Timmy that it was the sad case of "too many patients and never enough doctors". But even that conclusion is too easy to draw.

No it happened before, Tony. I don't know about Big Brother but we've ALWAYS been watched even before our existences, people weren't truly given "privacy". "Privacy" don't exist, never did.

That figures.

CORRECTION: My "outrage" (your word of choice) is based on a sad but true reality that our U.S. Constitutional Rights are quietly being taken away in the name of national security & giving TMZ freedom of information to anyone's 911 phone conversations. And you, Errant, want to sit there in front of your computer and tell me that there is nothing wrong with that?!? disbelief

Whatever. rolleyes But thank you for convincing me that you don't give a damn about constitution rights.

George W. Bush said it was a piece of paper. Anyway didn't the so-called "founding fathers" write in the US Constitution (which was mostly copied from Iroquois writings) that all men were created equal, but at the same time killed Native Americans and stole their land, said blacks were 3/4 of a person, didn't allow women to own property, etc.

I don't think so. The only social song I've known Lady T do was vocalizing with Rick on "Mr. Policeman" from Street Songs. By the way, Teena never got the royalties she deserved for being all over that album.
