Tears For Fears ~ I Believe

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Tears For Fears are such a great band, way underrated.

The whole album is fantastic Shout, The Working Hour, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, I Believe, Mothers Talk etc.

There first few albums are masterpieces... and this song is one of there best

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

There's an actual music video for I Believe, which has a different version than the one on the album, but it's not on Youtube. I have a found a performance from their Going To California concert video with Oleta Adams singing.

TFF discovered Oleta singing in a hotel, and asked her to join them on their tour and the album they were recording (The Seeds Of Love).

I remember how excited when her first album came out. People were asking me if I'd heard of her, and I was like, "Please! She sang with TFF!" lol

Is that the one produced by Roland Orzabal?

Yes. "Circle of One"

I wasn't sure if that was her 1st album or if she did anything pre TFF. Like I found out later that Rosie Gaines had some albums out before working with Prince (and she was slim then).

I decided to do a search:

I found out there was a self-released album called "Going on Record" in 1983....

Wow... I missed that one! eek

I didn't know that about Rosie eek

But her 1st album is good, i like her voice!

Also note, the video for I Believe is so... depressing to me. Roland is sitting in a chair in a dark room or something of that manor and singing.

It was written for his father, who he didn't really have a great relationship with. sad

This record came out in 1985, but I've never heard anything from it.
