Frederick feat. Janice Dowlen ~ Gentle

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Great song. I like Dino's version of this song too

on his sophomore album.

I went for years after hearing it as a kid wondering who was really singing that lol

Didn't know until two years ago who the original artist was.

Dino

I have a cassette somewhere of a radio interview by The Time (Pandemonium period), where they make fun of his name by making the sound of Fred Flintstone's pet. lol One of the hosts (Elvis Duran) makes an announcement to the listeners that Keith Sweat and Dino were going to be on the program the following week. Morris says "Who? We don't sweat, we cool". The rest of the band cracks up and makes the Dino noises.

I talked to Frederick over the internet couple of years ago. He said he was doing well and talked briefly about Janice.

He did say he was going to update the song too and remake it...however I dont know if that ever came to light. I belive he is a music teacher or something now. His website used to be frederickmusic.com...but i think it is closed down.

I didn't know he was still recording. I just thought he made that one album in the mid 80s.
