Dont be too surprised generally that happens this time of year when xmas cds really pick up steam and things like Taylor Swift and Susan Boyle etc... Kanye is not really the gift giving idea, hes more like the new joint you need and you get it or you dont, with Nikki i think she has more of the crossover appeal than Kanye does, thats why she is still up in the top 10. Nothing else is really surprising though, expect michael and r kelly to pretty much tank next week for the most part, and that Diddy cd despite that almost 90 thousand dont expect much more from it, label forecasts it for around 180-200 when its grace period ends.

Diddy's is the Flavor of the week , Nicki is surprising me with her sales.

originally i was shocked but she is kind of like what u would get if katy Perry, Lil Kim and Lady Gaga had a threesome and got a kid from it somehow. It she is selling to that wide array of audience, shes on everything, on every magazine, i mean shit, everywhere i look i see her cleavage (not that im complaining) but this was how Hitler took over germany.

Maybe Kanye not selling well will end up making it more of a classic album that was too genius for the general public to understand. Kinda like Springsteen's Nebraska, Britney's Blackout, etc.

A hidden gem. It might be a strange thing to say but this is probably a good thing.

And SuBo is just annoying me right now. It was funny last year but now it's just too much.

Lol it’s true probably that’s why she went the pop route with the album because her old music is not like that. She Want that mainstream crowd.

A lot of people don’t get kanye’s new album I feel it’s one of his better ones.

Basic Instinct has the unfortunate distinction of being her second consective album to come in DOA. The 38K copies sold, however, is still within her grasp since the final sales numbers won't be out until tomorrow.

I do feel it’s his best one people can argue it though, some still prefer College Dropout. College Dropout and Graduation were my favorites before this new one.

Well believe it or not, even SONY dropped the ball on guess who....Beyonce, yes BEYONCE, alot of retail outlets didnt even have her dvd/cd and still dont, the day it came out i saw this dude buying up all the new Rb releases that day, and looking in the Beyonce section and asked the salesperson in Best Buy for it, and they were like "ahh she doesnt have a new one" and he was like "ahh yeah it came out today" hilarious. I cant wait till Best Buy just gives up on music all together, they are a waste at this point

to be honest the trend started with the second album, as i posted on that LONG (way too long) Ciara thread, if you take away one album she never sold anything, i mean 2.7 million of the debut, then 1.3 of the second album, which u can thank more than half to curiousity of the first album, then it dropped to 127,000 with the third and now why would this one move? because she dances good on ellen?

I wouldn't say they 'dropped the ball' on her. I just think money is tight so they can't afford to over-ship albums and DVDs like they used to.

yeah i dont really know whats up with Best Buy, but this started about a year or so ago, alot of stuff under-ordered, and ALOT of stuff just not in the stores, retailers just assume what u want, but im like, shit, send back half of the 9million copies of Usher you have and get some of the Beyonce dvd, i mean i know it aired on TV, but how do you not stock her?? And the El cd and Cee Lo should have BEEN IMMED re-ordered when the grammy noms came in, this is why i HATE big box retailers that JUST HAPPEN to carry some music, they dont have music buyers that know shit in their companies, damn, when i did it, the chick that i used to get ordering advice from worked with ol skool artists, wrote reviews for magazines, and went to all the clubs to see what was buzzin in every area of the states, its like Best Buy has some geek at a desk say "yeah send me 100 of that and give 900 of that, no we dont need the new Beyonce, it was on tv last night"

Yeah at times I end up just ordering online when I can’t find the album. I go in the morning at best buy sometimes and the item was sold out I’m like at 10 am it’s sold out already. No line or anything lol

well it will all depend on the end of the year numbers, and what they actually put in to her project, lets not forget that its not so much the units moved, its what they spend on her, or any artist, plus what shape the label is in, and what her initial deal was, dropping artists some times has nothing to do with sales or talent, shit Katharine Mcphee sold 600,000 of her debut and more talent than all the AI artists put together, but got dropped and now Jive/Rca is sorry because she has alot of respect and she moved some good numbers on a sub-label based on her "respect" from notable talents within, dumb move, shows labels dont want to invest time.

Deuces was #1 on the R&B Chart for 9 weeks and reached the Top 50 on Pop. Yeah 3x is currently blowing up all over the place and is already one of the Top 20 most played songs in the country. It remains to be seen how well his album will do but to believe he's really struggling is a misunderstanding. Graffiti was able to do over 100k the first week when he was still being blacklisted. I'm sure he'll be able to post even stronger numbers next to around since things have calmed down and he has radio support this time.

I wouldn't say they 'dropped the ball' on her. I just think money is tight so they can't afford to over-ship albums and DVDs like they used to.

Money may be tight, but this is a no-brainer, i mean its not over ordering when stores never got it anyway, A midtown NYC Best Buy isnt stocking it at all, only on Blu Ray but just has 5 copies, but thats a huge mistake, because BLU ray as good as it is, people arent looking for Beyonce in Blu Ray they want Star wars or some shit like that in Blu Ray. They may have thought the airing on tv hurt it, but then why give it to the network, to me that was FREE promo right there, it just aired now a week later BOOM here it is with added stuff, no investment at all on their part, i mean they could have saved some $$$ on the MJ mess, i mean the family is bad mouthing it, theres youre press right there, people want it just because Jermaine says its a fake, no need for light shows and posters in times square for someone that isnt alive.

i try never to speak to anyone in a "best buy" honestly i feel like a trader going in there, because they are part of the reason real music stores shut down, but now they are feeling it, and thats why U cant find anything in Best Buy and all of a sudden that 9.99 price all the time, has changed to 9.99 first week and 13.99 afterwards. Guess losing 2-3 dollars a cd caught up with them
