The Jackson 5 Cartoon Petition?
NOTE: This is not for the MJ Discussion Thread (OK, luv4u?).
Since next year will mark its 40th anniversary, I'm thinking about starting a petition to send to Classic Media and Motown/Universal Music Group to get the Jackson 5's cartoon series to be released on DVD for 2011, if anybody out there who would like to help me with it, send me a PM and can get started, cause I have a lot of ideas.
Here are a couple of ideas in my head:
The set should be 4 DVDs (3. the complete series and 4. a bonus disc)
The bonus disc should feature interviews with Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon talking about the cartoon and the good ol days of The J5
As well as feature their 2 specials:

If The Beatles' cartoon show has never been on video, I don't see much of a chance on this being released. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

How was that? I never watched it .

And that was quite surprising but I guess the Beatles themselves don't wanna see it.

I haven't seen it in a long time. The local channel used to show it and Speed Racer in the morning. The Beatles cartoon isn't much different from the J5 one as far as the plots go. These cartoons based on popular music acts were usually cheaply made and had no input from the acts themselves. I don't really care about the J5 cartoon, I'd rather CBS televison would put out the Jacksons variety show. But I guess there's a lot of issues with song copyrights as well as getting permission from the guest stars or whoever owns their likeness if deceased. Motown doesn't have anything to do with this. The same with those countless Motoen specials that aired in the late 90s and early 70s. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Yeah otherwise, they would've probably re-released it.

Um, yes they do! They have an entire library of not music, but the TV shows as well.

If Motown had the rights to these many shows and specials, they would have released them by now.
No way are they just sitting on Motown 25 which included the Moonwalk. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Uh, you're forgetting, Classic Media owns the cartoon, which means, they can necogiate with Motown.

I just checked and it was produced byRankin and Bass and the production company's are Rankin and Bass, Motown Productions and CBS Television.
Now I don't know what any of this means as in to who owns what and who it would have to go through to be released to the public. PRINCE: Always and Forever

It means that Classic Media owns the 1967/1974 Rankin-Bass library. The Jackson 5 cartoon was produced by Rankin-Bass in 1971. Catch my drift?

Yes it does. Before Classic Media can put it out, they have to get the rights from Motown for the music distribution.

For years,I've been wanting to do a petition to get 'The Brady Kids' cartoon on DVD

Well if Warner Bros can finally release The Dukes (Of Hazzard) cartoon on DVD, it won't be long before Paramount release The Brady Kids on DVD too.

The cartoon was Coy & Vance. I prefer Bo & Luke. I have most of the regular show DVD's, but I've haven't yet bought season 5 which was the Coy & Vance season. I haven't found the reunion movies on DVD either, but I taped them when they originally ran, but my VCR broke so can't watch them. I didn't bother to see the big screen version, I figured they were going to mess it up and make it dirty. John Schnieder said in an interview he didn't see it either. I didn't know the cartoon was on DVD though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B.
