Um, I've seen plenty of live Temptations footage and they all had separate microphones. | |

Eh Bernie Mac was the only one that made me laugh during that whole special. Queens of Comedy was funnier. | |

I used to really like Steve Harvey, a lot. I don't know what's happened over the years, but I don't care for him much anymore. Must be a personal issue, lol (...as much as any of us can have a personal issue with a celebrity we've never met).
I like the point he was making here though. Was watching SNL last night when I realized: Whatever it was Eminem and Lil Wayne were shouting about, as they were jumping all around and acting all angry, was going right over my head, lol. Less than 30 seconds into their first set, I had tuned them completely out. The main thing that stole my focus from their entire performance (besides not being able to figure out what they were so mad about) was wondering why Lil Wayne wasn't wearing pants that fit (...though I was touched by how genuinely he seemed to appreciate the applause at the end of their performance).
The closer the attention I pay to many of these rappers today, the more I feel I'm "done" with RAP. In retrospect, I feel that Public Enemy, or NWA would have been a good place to leave it, lol (...with honorable mention to OutKast and The Roots). | |

I agree and Cedric was the worst one, imo. | |

This is EXACTLY what I'm talkin' bout, lol. Almost ashamed to admit, I've never watched this (...but I'm downloading it now, lol). | |

I didn't even know there was a Queens Of Comedy spinoff. I have Kings Of Comedy on DVD. | |

Monique? Adele Givens? Miss Laura? Sommore? What you never watched it? | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I watched a good portion of it. I couldn't stomach Monique at all. It was marginal imo and not nearly funny in the neighborhood of Kings of Comedy. Don't laugh at my funk

Thanks for the heads-up buddy | |

I myself didn't like Monique's bit but Adele and Miss Laura was perfect. Sommore was alright, she had some good lines. | |

IMHO anyway. They seemed kinda neck in neck though.
KINGS (unfunniest): D.L. (I actually think he was the worst) Steve
(midway but not quite): Cedric (he's stuck in 1993)
(funniest): Bernie
QUEENS (unfunniest): Monique (that skinny bitches thing kept going on and on and on and on and...) Sommore (like I said, she was OK, but she's always been off to me)
(funny): Miss Laura
(funniest): Adele Givens (obviously)
---- Bernie & Adele brought out the best in what they were doing in each special. | |

I don't know why but it seemed to me that Steve was pissed off that entire night at something. Knowing he had a rivalry with Bernie at the time, I felt some tension. Maybe it's just me. They made the right decision to have Bernie end it. His entire spot was classic.

I think DL gets a bad rep, I lot of folks say he's not funny. I think him and Bernie are the funniest Kings of Com edy.
When Comedy Central did the 100 greatest stand up comics, he was number 55 (highest rated King) ced was 65 and Bernie was like 72 or something. Steve didn't make the list. DL has/had a broader range than the other Kings. He can talk about the hood, politics, he's like a Chris Rock type.
Adele was easily the funniest of the chicks and Mo'Nique easily the worse. I never really cared for Laura Hayes and Sommore was Sommore. Now, if they would have had Sheryl Underwood there and Wanda Sykes, than it was have been great.
Adele Givins Wanda Sykes Sherly Underwood Sommore
And with Steve, I don't think Steve and Bernie was beefin then (if they ever were beefin at all.) This was shot in like early 2000, before Bernie was known like the other 3. He didn't have his TV Shows yet and hadn'e really had any real big movie roles besides his parts in 90s hoods movies like The Players Club, How To Be a Player and Booty Call. True about Bernie but the movie did start his rise in popularity though. | |

Yep, The Bernie Mac Show was actually takin form his routine about the kids (just a routine, he never really had a crackhead sister with 3 kids.)
Also, about a month ago, I was wathcing a Steve Harvet special on Centric or something and he said the whole article in GQ or whatever about him goin and auditioning for the same roles and Mac were false. He said he even talked to Bernie Mac about it, that was Harvey said. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Hmmm... | |

There's something about DL that I absolutely don't like, but I don't think it has anything to do with his brand of humor (...but maybe it does). Could be that he reminds me of someone I knew, or it may just be him. Something about him seems phony to me. No disrespect to those who are a fan of his. | |

That's my issue with him as well. | |

I think he's funny.
One of his best bits is about the pretty girls/ugly girls crying. Everytime an pretty girl starts crying everyone comes around "whats wrong, why a pretty thing like you crying?"
When a ugly girl cry it's totally different. "You better get away from my car ... don't make me throw anoher rock at you!" PRINCE: Always and Forever
