It wasn't just her debut - actually it's more like the first half of her discography is really, really good. For most of my teenage years, I was a huge Mariah fan, adored her and bought everything she put out. Everything from her debut up to and including Butterfly, is classic.

Hit the skids around Rainbow (though it had some really good moments 'Can't Take That Away' for one), and the Glitter soundtrack was hit-and-miss (although the good stuff on there, is really good imo : Reflections; All My Life; Never Too Far).

I really liked the song "Fly Like a Bird" too, but I couldn't tell anybody what disc it came from because by that point I'd already started to move on musically. After the Loverboy video I kinda jumped ship (her image at that point had alienated me: the super-skimpy clothes).

When she made her comeback - I never could get into her work with Jermaine Dupri much, so barring "We Belong Together" and "It's Like That", I pretty much never looked back, even though all lot of those JD discs were hits and put her back on the map for alot of people.

"I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day
