I still think that Kelly Price & Melonie Daniels brought out something in her. Those big broads knew how to make her kick her own ass into shape and come back beautifully. It was like the relationship between Aretha Franklin & Cissy Houston to some extent.

And don't even get me started when the three of them get to harmonizing drool Trey & Mary Ann are cool, but Kelly & Melonie are beasts vocally,,,,still are.

I remember going to a benefit concert that Melonie was holding in Queens 2 years ago, she sang alot of church stuff but when she got into Stevie's "You & I", there wasn't a dry eye in the room.

This was her first official Mimi album though...

With her sister Sherree,,,,,whatever happened to her?

But if you want to hear the vocal peak of the three of them together(Mimi, Melonie & Kelly) check out the first Christmas album. Those bitches put their foot down.

Also manage to find the dance mixes of her songs circa 93-98,,,,,,esp the David Morales ones drool Your adrenaline will have a field day.

She & Luther Vandross were the best when it comes to picking their vocal ensemble and she gave them alot of freedom live.

I hated her first few albums because they although they contained some good songs, the production on them was sooooo generic and soul-less (Walter Afanasieff sucks), but then "Butterfly" came out and to me the album had the oomph that its predecessors were missing. And she started to collaborate with hip-hop artists a lot which -generally- improved upon the original versions. The 12" remixes weren't bad either... And "Glitter" sucked as a movie, but the CD is probably one of the most underrated ones ever, her collaboration with Rick james is a classic!

Since then to me her albums have been a bit hit and miss, but I still wish her well smile I've seen her in concert once and was a bit underwhelmed, wish she'd do more unplugged-type shows.

Just like the white winged dove...

I was stunned to learn what sounded like a choir on Anytime You Need a Friend was actually those 3 women's vocals being layered over & over!

Btw, Melonie rejoined the group with the new Christmas album mushy while surprisingly Trey contributed nothing to it, although he joins her live still.

In the decades to come, music historians will look back and remember her as one of the greats. Frankly, I could just eat her. Well, you know what I mean.

20 years in music for sure, she did bring alot of new things to the table, she did inspire some of the new ladies like Xtina and leona lewis etc.. Musically theres alot of middle of the road stuff, early on much better, later on mostly stuff that everyone else was doing. The problem was early on the songs were just run of the mill pop songs, and that stuff usually doesnt last too long, some of what she has done still holds alot doesnt, body wise and looks and all that, shit i would put her in the hall of fame just on her legs

I am not that familiar with her music as much as her other assets throughout the years.

How about posting pictures to go with this thread, from skimpiest to tightest? smile

The earlier stuff is definitely different from her later stuff, but I think it is natural for older records to sound dated. If you ever see one of her set lists, you will see the songs that hold up.

"Can't Let Go", "Everything Fades", "Do You Think Of Me", "The Wind". My God! Those songs have had such a profound effect on me, I honestly can't imagine my life without them. Mimi is one of the greatest singers ever! I will always love her!hug

I love her because my favorites span her 20 years... She keeps me interested when many artists peak and steadily decline.

Butterfly (1997)

Glitter (2001)

Charmbracelet (2002)

Memoirs (2009)

same here, only I'll also add E=MC2 to that list as I love that record to bits. it's easily my favorite out of the releases from Charmbracelet to Memoirs.
