George Clinton's "Erotic City" - When The Hell Did He Do This?

The extra bassline went in headbang

I heard that "Erotic City" was influenced by George, so its only giving that he take a stab at it himself,,,,and boy did it fit like a leather glove drool

Yeah, he recorded it for the soundtrack for PCU which came out in '94.

Probably one of the best Prince covers, IMO.

I hadn't seen/heard this. Thanks.

I seem to recall Prince in an interview saying he went to a George Clinton concert and afterwards went straight home that night and wrote Erotic City.

I've always hated this cover. boxed It's not bad, but it's sooo like the original, which is... better.

As I've said before, I love the instrumentation of Erotic City, just not the lyrics. George Clinton's instrumental is the one I have. Haven't seen Prince's instrumental version anywhere.

I don't care for profanity, but I can ignore it if I like the song.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I can do that too...with some songs:) I'd rather not have those lyrics stuck in my head though. Although, needless (or needful) to say, I know what some of the lyrics are, so when I hear the instrumental, the lyrics are there in my head anyway, I just don't sing them. I guess I'd rather not hear them out loud. LOL.

I used to think George originally did this track.

I don't like the bass patch on this version.

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

Amazon's got plenty of copies....but it's not hard to find. And the 7:00 mix is better (Extended Sweat Mix)

I never really got how Erotic City was supposed to be a GC inspired song, personally, but George does sound at ease doing a faithful rendition.

Kind of pointless, as it's a lot like Prince's version, but it sounds okay.

I've always loved George's cover of "Erotic City". Normally, I don't like it when artists do cover songs that were originally done by other artists (even Prince) . So for me to actually like it is a HUGE compliment! lol

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
