I like the piano on this. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

If I'm not mistaken, thats Chick Corea.
Great album, and recorded only for 3 days, each song was done in one take. Exactly how you approach a jazz album.

Ms. Khan has a reputation of being a speedy artist in the studio, no one thousand and one takes.
Nice rendition of that song .

What do you think about her version of Queenie's "Don't Talk To Strangers"?

LOVE IT. Beautifully sung and the arrangement is lush.

That would be Boston, Steely Dan, Michael Jackson, and in some cases The Beatles. I think that's why Chaka refers to this album as her burdon. For one, she hears things on it that she wishes she could do over because it was recorded so quickly and two, people have been dying for her to do another jazz CD since the release (Classikhan was more big band). Great song from a perfect album! "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu
