BTW, I DO think BEP will lose this case. Looks (and sounds) clear enough to me.

150 large per infraction? That's gonna be the sticking point.

I suppose it depends on what the actual story is about. And according to George, it's different than what we're hearing. In any event, I agree with you that samples are probably not worth the trouble of using them.

true, but I find it hard to believe GC would file the claim if he DID IN FACT clear the sample....so I'm assuming that part's true.

Then again, if NOT...that BEP shit was one hell of a LAME attepmt to "disguise" the sample.

There was no attempt to disguise it. You know it from the first drum hits.

(def) hot mess:

1) Someone or Something that is such a mess... the level of it, is off of the charts. It's past pathetic, past pitiful. It's to the point you almost have to walk away to keep from bustin a gut. Hot messes can exist in levels.
2) Whitney Houston.

He's going after Armen Boladian through a back door way.

It's one thing to sample your music, it's another thing to forge your signature, not pay you and not give you any credit for your own music.

How about George sample one of the Black Eyed Peas hits not pay them or give the credit.

I think some of those names were interchangeable. I know for a fact Garry Shider was also referred to as Starchild, even live on stage with George Clinton standing there, as well as when they've eulogized him since his death (as they did when I just saw them play 3 weeks ago on Dec 3, 2010).

Bootsy has a ton of nicknames also: Starmon was another, as well as Casper (...not the friendly ghost, but the Holy Ghost... DIG!) lol

On the Casblanca recordings, George played all the characters: The Long-Haired Sucker, Sir Nose, Dr Funkenstein and even Starchild. On the Mothership tour, Garry Shider began to assume the role of Starchild and so it became his stage name and alter-ego. On the Placebo Syndrome tour Sir Nose was played by Larry Heckstall, but is currently portrayed by Carlos Mc Murray. Casper, Starmon, Bootzilla and Bootsy are all William Collins Jr all the time on stage and recording.

Naw Garry never played Starchild on stage. George was Starchild hitting the stage and later returning as Dr. Funkenstein. Garry later assumed the nickname.

Yeah. OK. That's probably more accurate, but the point is still the same. George originally played all the characters.

Identity

Will. i.am's whole career has been based on sampling. Can anyone cite an original piece of music that he or Kanye has created?
