Whose into Yahzarah? Whose into Yahzarah? I just discovered her music and I'm blown away. I'm in love with her 2010 album - THE BALLAD OF PURPLE SAINT JAMES. She has another album that was released back in 2003 titled - Blackstar. It's on my download list.

I first heard her a couple of years back. I think she is fantastic. The Purple St james album is great. She actually has three albums and an essential e.p too. The e.p is called The Prelude, it came out in 2008 (i think). The albums are Blackstar, which you also mentioned, and happens to be my favourite, and another album from 2001 called Hear Me, this one ios harder to find (on cd). I love her use of live instruments as well as beats. She seems to have been overlooked by the mainstream, and has slipped behind the Erykah Badu's and the Janelle Monae's.
On a side note, If you like Yahzarah, you should check out N'Dambi. These women are in a league of their own. Hope you can track down the other Yahzarah albums and the e.p. Enjoy.

Influences Williams has been influenced by singers such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Erykah Badu. Although Yahzarah has done many R&B influenced songs, her primary musical style is heavily influenced by elements of electronic soul and pop music. Williams has also influenced musical artists such as Sy Smith, The Floacist, and other well-known singers. | |
