That was the BEST singing ensemble she had. By the time she gets to "Every Woman", each of those ladies take the mic and each time its MURDER.

Those backups are fierce. All the videos from NSJF 2002 are killer.
Do you know where that performance is? Is it part of the NSJF 2002 set or was this a set she did with those girls in different venues? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I think in Stockholm. The concert is highly bootlegged among the Chakaholics. Goes to show you what type of form Miss Stevens was when she did that gig.

Thats the HELL RAISER right there I've been trying to remember her name. I didn't know I had her in my music collection(Unlimited Touch) until recently.
Thank you. [Edited 12/14/10 10:55am]

Great performance of a great song. Chaka's version is much better than the original. The original is on the Beat Street Soundtrack (by Juicy). Oddly enough, the members of Juicy (brother and sister Jerry and Katreese Barnes) were the producers of Chaka's version.

She sang back-up in their 87, if I'm not mistaken.

THAT and the back-up singers have always been her strength, choosing wise. Some of the people she picked for her band are hit & miss, but she has always remained consistent when it comes to hiring bassists and vocal ensemble.
Boy, the women who came from the "Walls Of Chaka" school are ruthless,,,,Meli'sa Morgan, Vesta, Penny Ford, Sandra St. Victor, Cindy Mizelle,,,,even Lisa Fischer & Rahsaan Patterson(one of the few guys who sang with her along with her brother Mark & Hamish Stewart) joined her band at one point.

Gosh, how times change. One time my boyfriend slapped me hard in the face when I popped in a tape that had Chaka's "Give Me All" as the lead song. He hated her and he slapped me, pulled the tape out and threw it away.
Now I am launching my 2nd year project in Spiritual Psychology and I am creating a healing experience to guide others through their own journey to healing.
