Let's take it there.
You're tripping man, I don't remember MJ breakdancing ... You don't like Usher ok, I have no problem with that, but dude has his own style, I mean just go on youtube and watch Pop Ya Collar, U Remind Me, U Got It Bad, Let It Burn and tell me it looks like Mike.
Do I like store brand items ? Yes, when they're good I don't care ... but honestly, you see youreself moving like MJ in a club ? Usher looks like a regular dude who can dance, MJ looks like a dancine machine.
I agree with the identity crisis part, I pmean look at this post, but in studio I like his voice.

I would say that Ne-Yo is the biggest MJ immitator of all. Watch any of his videos and u get this MJ-wannabe moves, even the type of music of his last two singles I heard ("Beautiful Monster" and "Champagne Life") are so MJ-esque and unfortunately that's the best way to turn himself into a joke
Usher is not as much of a copycat as Ne-Yo, I mean his music (at least the singles I am aware of) has nothing to do with MJ's music, his videos also do not have much in common with MJ videos besides the odd dance move here and there which is not however on the total immitation level of Ne-Yo. It's on his live performances that the guy really immitates and also in a funny way. I saw him on GMA singing his crap song ("DJ Got Us...") and doing all the MJ moves which were not even fitting the music. That's a shame because he is a good dancer and he could come up with moves which at least fit the music (I know originality is too much to ask)
I wouldn't put Chris Brown in the same category as them. His latest two videos ("Deuces" and "Yeah") do not remind me of MJ at all and the choreography in "Yeah" is just great and exciting
As for someone taking the place of MJ, it ain't gonna happen. Those kids should try and build their own hype (which all of them had and lost in various degrees) instead of jumping on someone else's bandwagon. I'd say in that regard Chris Brown is doing better as his Rihanna debacle forced him to start rebuilding his fanbase from scratch and so far he's doing good. Usher remains popular while his music becomes crappier and crappier so he has no incentive to change direction and Ne-Yo seems to have slipped into irrelevancy as a performer.
Chris Brown is not going to get that success that he was about to have, he will do good probably in the urban market but that pop success I doubt it all Chris has is the dancing his songs has been crap since the first album. And Chris needs to be mention with Usher and Ne-Yo as far as being obsessed with MJ goes. Chris acts like Michael his daddy as much as Usher but Ne-Yo I feel does more Michael than the other two though. |

Well, I am not that interested in that kind of music but I do follow the charts so that's how I know about their singles. I haven't seen a single Chris Brown live performance so he might be acting like MJ too it's true, if I hadn't seen that live performance of Usher, I wouldn't have thought he acts like Michael either. Of course Chris Brown is not gonna get that much success as he once had and of course none of them is gonna come anywhere close in being the new MJ, I was not suggesting that, I was just commenting on their careers, that's all. I do find Chris Brown's current music slightly more entertaining than the other two, I wouldn't spend any money on any of them though [Edited 12/15/10 3:03am] |

Silly negro.
Has anyone ever said this when another great artist has passed?
And even if they did feel the pressure, they would never come out and say it.
-Did Otis Redding feel pressure to be the new Sam Cooke?
-Did Al Green feel pressure to be the new Otis Redding?
-Did Carlos Santana feel the pressure to be the new Jimi Hendrix?
-Did Iggy Pop feel the pressure to be the new Jim Morrison?
-Did Luther Vandros feel the pressure to be the new Marvin Gaye?
-Did Jay-Z feel the pressure to be the new Notorious BIG?

I hate that we even have to wonder about a "new" version of a legend. People stopped being their own artist and are instead clones. I know you were joking though. I hope George comes back soon though. |
