I uploaded it the day it went on sale . . . good solid album. I'm not crazy about the cuts with Fifty Cents or the other guy, but I've enjoyed the album just the same. I've been bummin' to "Closer To You" for a couple of days now.

Have not listened yet. Maybe I'll give it a spin this weekend.

Exactly how I thought it would be. That's great considering his last album didn't even go top 100. And especially great after a 16-year layoff. I'm gonna get it before Christmas! You go El!

That was a damn good album - Heart, Mind, & Soul" - I not sure what happened there.

El said his drug problems were one of the main causes. [Edited 12/10/10 12:40pm]

OK. I wasn't sure because I for one backtracked on theisalbum . I wasn't sure if flew under the radar or El private struggles got in the way of him "selling" the album. All water under the bridge now, I hope for better things to come.

I think better things are to come. I wish El well.

What exactly is a "tastemaker" chart? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I bought it. I think it's pretty good. I haven't listened to the Christmas stuff yet, tho. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I don't know. I really didn't quite dig "Second Chance". It was just alright for me. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I saw that when I was on billboard.com the other day. That, along with the Social 50 Chart. WTF?! Does Billboard actually pay people to make up and compile all of these dumb, unneccessary charts? Where do I sign up for that cushy job? "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

That's like "Social Citizens". Jesus Christ.
Billboard's real funny. I read up on their charts back then. The R&B chart was originally called the Harlem Hit Parade!

I dig the new CD. My favorite is track 5 When I See You. Here is a pic I took @ the NYC show in Oct: [img:$uid]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v125/ActorJLB/IMG_9978.jpg[/img:$uid] Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

It's chart debut is way lower than I expected. #13 R&B and #56 Pop. Not impressive numbers. Geffen really didn't get the disc out there like they should have. I stated in a previous post that I had to go to four different stores the first day it came out. The Best Buy I went to only received two copies of the disc. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! Charlie Wilson said something about one of his recent albums not being stocked in stores. But most stores are not going to order a large amount of CDs by a performer over a certain age. Although I did see that Sade's new album was well stocked. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Depends on their popularity I guess. That's why I'm not surprised. PLUS it's been a while since any DeBarge member scored well chart-wise so it's not like a real disappointment. Plus the guy's got a Grammy nod or two. Yeah it may not mean much nowadays but for someone who almost lost his life to drugs and crime, this is a triumph.

I love the album minus Fabolous and 50 Cent's contributions. The Christmas songs are also a nice addition too.

El Debarge won me back when I heard him live on the BET awards--best that night IMO. But, although I like the "Second Chance" song, I did not like his duet with Faith. Also, when I heard that two Christmas songs were on this album, that turned me off. Is this album worth getting--and why would I buy it. How many songs on it are not sappy and sweet? If half of them aren't...I will consider buying it! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
