Anyone see "VH1 Divas: Salute To The Troops" ?

It aired last night (sunday). The lineup didn't impress me, and most of the performances weren't great, but 1 new act did come strong! It was also nice to see the troops having a good time biggrin

-The night began with Katy Perry, Keri Hilson and that lady from the country group Sugarland imitating the Andrews Sisters singing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy".

-The host was Kathy Griffin

I don't remember the exact order but here are the performances:

-Katy Perry did "California Gurls" and later closed the show with "Firework"

-Paramore did "The Only Exception" and later a cover of "My Hero" by the Foo Fighters

-Nicki Minaj did "Right Through Me" and teamed up with Katy Perry to do a cover of "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper

-Sugarland did "Stuck Like Glue" with a guest appearance by MC Lyte to mix country and rap eek lol

-Keri Hilson did "Pretty Girl Rock" and teamed up with Sugarland to perform a cover of "Think" by Aretha Franklin.

-and the breakout performers of the night went to Grace Potter and The Nocturnals. I'm no rock girl, but trust me when I say this girl can SING! I wouldn't be surprised if she and her band blow up in the near future-they're getting a lot of buzz from last night. They did their song "Paris (Ooh La La)" and then did a duet with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart for "Crazy On You".

Here's the song and you can see the other performances of the night too:

I actually saw the video U posted and I know what U mean! Grace Potter can sing! They will be pretty big, I can tell!

If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It was an interesting mix of performers. They should just stop calling it "Divas" because many of these performers are new to a lot of the public (I think they should just call it "Girls Night Out" or something). But it worked IMO because it was for the troops.

My favorite, surprisingly enough, was Nicki Minaj. I couldn't believe the response she got from the troops--insane. She ate it up and I thought she sounded really cute on "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". Keri Hilson was....I liked her in the opening number but her solo number....I don't know. I think that song "Don't hate me cause I'm cute" just stops me cold. I want to get swept up in the chorus, as I do like it but it feels too ridiculous. She came off as kinda full of herself not warm and friendly like Nicki.

There was TOO MUCH Katy Perry. Good God, once you've seen one performance you've seen them all. Yes, she's pretty and colorful with cathy songs but good grief. She did about 5 songs it seemed. Sugarland was pretty good....Kathy Griffin is skinny and I can't believe she called Bristol Palin the "White Precious". Cold.

Anyway, I thought it was fun.

"Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

Yes!! Grace Potter and The Nocturnals was rockin' the place. She has a great voice and singing with Heart was right up her alley. She was hanging!

I really like that song Paris.

ThankUPrince!

Divas?? WTF? I've barely even heard of these chicks. They are far from Divas. Fortunately, I did not watch the show.
