And apparently I'm not the only one who's thinking that....

thanks for the link, i'll read it when i get home later on.
and you're right about the prince thing. they even sample the time on one song i distinctly remember hearing the "what time is it" yell a few times in a song.
and on the last album they had a beat constructed of the "IT" drum beat iirc, or was it "hot thing", can't remember right now.
the sprinkling of horns on the new album also sound like prince inspired

for me, the album of the year. In addition to it I have only bought two 2010 albums: HIM - Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice The Ark - In Full Regalia
I still I haven't found a copy of 20ten or New Amerykah Part II for a reasonable price here in Finland. "Life's an elevator, it goes up and down. Life's an elevator can't you dig the sound?" -Marc Bolan

I was going to say "a boy band?" but then I remembered the singer I have not heard this, it's actually the only Jack White related album I don't have...oh, scratch that, I don't have the Loretta Lynn album either. My Legacy

I've become so predictable.
Particularly this year. I've bought around 30 albums released in 2010 and only three of them featured male singers or mostly male vocals:
Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse - Dark Night Of The Soul Mark Ronson & The Business International - Record Collection Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty
The Mark Ronson album I sold on ebay because I didn't like it and I haven't listened to the Big Boi album yet even though I bought it months ago.

Really want to hear this - I've been a big fan, but not so much in the last 5 year or so, but I keep hearing good things about this one.
But I also have to say - I don't get the ArchAndroid thing at all. Love her voice, love her when someone else is writing - but that album (save for a few exceptions) is a hot mess.

LOL , she is a grower. I tried her out to see the hype , she's cool but I can't listen to her all day. Some say she underrated some say overated..she's not for everybody

i'm gonna need to do some more revising before i can come up with a decent list. i can't remember the year for half of the cd's i've been listening to in 2010.

In no particular order...
- Jamie Lidell "Compass" - Janelle Monae, "The Archandroid" - Prince, "20Ten" - Twin Shadow, "Forget" - Erykah Badu, "New Amerykah Part II" - Crystal Castles, "Crystal Castles (2010)" - Big Boi, "Sir Luscious Big Foot" - Gil Scott Heron, "I'm New Here" - Bryan Ferry, "Olympia"
I hate to admit it... But it feels like I'm slowing drifting away from hip-hop... I grew up being a hip-hop lover... But my taste is shifting more and more to adult contemporary/pop/ambiant music... Fuck U Lil Waynes, 50 Cents and Nickis Garbage... ... Nuthing better when it comes to R&B

It was great seeing him with a full band in October. The other times I'd seen him, it was with just a bass player or drummer. Great concert, excellent album. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
