Warning: I'm about to say a statement that will piss SOME orgers off but I don't give a fuck because it's true:

Chris Brown should definitely win the grammy for "Dueces".

There I said it.

Very sad to see this comment. disbelief

Anyway.... if chris brown or Usher wins over Janelle Monae for Best Contemporary R&B Album, I am going off on the Grammys and boycotting them. She had one of the best albums of 2010 and she only gets 2 nominations, just to show everything nowadays are a popularity contest.

Since Grammys are voted on by the peers of the record industry, does that mean you will not buy anymore music?

The Grammys are not for popularity contests as American Music Awards or People's Choice.

In the Grammys, singers, rappers, producers, songwriters, record label execs, recording engineers all vote for their own, ala the Oscars, the Emmys and the Tonys.

The Grammys are the most pure music awards there are in terms of impressing your own industry.

Nice to See El Debarge, Faith Evans and Jaheim receiving some recognition from the Academy. Good to know that there are still some folks in the business who appreciate singers with substance.

Biggest snubs are:

-NO nominations for Alicia Keys' "Unthinkable (I'm Ready)", one of the biggest and best R&B hits this year.

-Bad Romance snubbed for ROTY and SOTY

-Sade snubbed in the major categories, especially AOTY

Biggest WTF's are:

-All of Katy Perry's nominations, especially AOTY and Female Pop Vocal Performance

-The nomination of a live version of Halo when the original version won last year and there were much more deserving candidates

Amen brother! It's like it's mandatory that Beyonce gets nominated or win. As someone else mentioned, Mathew Knowles is definitely on his grind as always. Industry politics is a bitch! He plays the game well though, I'll give him that. That was a wasted slot that could've easily went to someone else. neutral

Nice to see Bilal and El Debarge on that list. I hope more people discover their music through these nominations. If Bilal wins maybe Interscope might consider releasing Love For Sale.

Nice to see Bilal nominated for 2 years in a row, but he won't win ...

You're probably right. I'm guessing the grammy for Best Urban/Alternative Performance goes to Cee Lo.

Do you really think that the Grammy's isn't a popularity contest like the others you mentioned? I rarely buy contemporary albums I don't like to waste my money listening to the one or two good songs on the album.

What I mean by "popularity contest" is that everything now is focused on image and not the music, people don't realize that looks doesn't mean you have talent.

well it seems that the grammys did a bit of shying away from certain artists on the whole with this grouping, i see a good deal of "thinking" in certain categorites and then i look at Album of the Year and there is nothing there i would have put there, but as usual the grammys instead of taking the 5 best it takes what they feel best from each genre to "please" people, WRONG. I dont really have anything to say about this list but i can honestly say it wouldnt make me care either way who won, none of it has any bearing on what artists i like. I will say however, that a major snub was noting giving a nod to Elton and Leon Russell, though it missed the deadline as an album the track should have been on this list as a collabo, but then again Elton has not had a good relation with the grammies. And can we lose the "urban/alternative" category, please with these new age BS terms.

I mean if Mantasia and Ike Brown got nominations she could've at least got one.

Esperanza Spalding is not a new artist. She has 3 albums already, the 1st came out in 2006. It's like when Shelby Lynne was nominated for best new artist when she had many albums beforehand.

GRAMMYS have always SUCKED BIG-HAIRY-DIRTY-SMELLY monkey balls

Pathetic, as always, just a flesh parade of "questionable" mainstream music

I'll never forget 1989 and Metallica losing to Jethro Tull...

Katie Perry...nominated for album of the year??? kill me now, while you can...before I kill you...

Just goes to joke that the Grammy's once again proves to show what a joke it's turned out to be.
