What's the best Bowie biography? I was thinking of adding a Bowie biography onto the list that I'm sending to Santa... can anybody recommend a good one? I'm not looking for one that details his activities on a daily basis, just an informative biography that's heavy with tales of his 70's heyday.
The most likely candidate so far appears to be the David Buckley book, do any of you know of a better one? The only Bowie book I have at the moment is Moonage Daydream. | |

The only Bowie book that I truly enjoyed is Strange Fascination - David Buckley, a project that was supposed to be co-written by Bowie himself, but at the last minute he abandoned the project and said that Buckley was a gold digger (...)
It's a nice book (nearly 600 pages if I'm not mistaken), and it features tons of commentaries of Bowie collaborators (specially Visconti and Alomar). The book (the revised version) ends just before Bowie and Visconti returned to the studio in the late 2001 (Heathen sessions). The book also has some great doses of pure humor and it's one of the few Bowie books that analyzes the 83-92 era with objectivity and concern ... [Edited 12/1/10 15:50pm] | |
