Billy Idol! I'm at work and I'm listening to the radio and they play my song!!! "Rebel Yell"
I'm 21 so I don't really know who the hell Billy Idol is, but they said today is his birthday and they played a few more of his songs that I am a little familiar with...He's kinda cool

you definately need Wiplash Smile and Rebel Yell, they're fuckin great. New album out soon i believe, his last one was good aswell, Devil's Playground.

I read an interview with Billy a few years ago in some magazine and he said he had a crush on the rapper Eve. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Billy is one of the OG punks from the UK scene in the mid-late 70s. He started w/ Generation X and then went solo. So check out Gen X as well as his solo stuff.
I still Billy's one of the coolest rock stars around. IOW, Billy's really rad. | |

I promise you will love his albums
The Rebell Yell album has the classic hits Eyes Without A Face, Flesh, Catch My Fall
But deep cuts like Daytime drama, Blue Highway & crank call are some of his all time best song's
Whiplash Smile has the hits To Be A Lover, Sweet 16 & Don't Need a Gun
But it also contains my personal favorite billy song man for all seasons, With a great guitar solo by Steve Stevens.
And also has some of his best rockers like World's Forgotten Boy
Charmed Life has the huge hit Cradle Of Love, and the so so remake of L.A Woman. But it also features by second favorite song by Billy Prodigal Blues

Another person I wouldn't know if my mom hadn't introduced me to when I was young, she played his album all the time. My all time fave song by him is Eyes Without a Face! Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol | |

Steve Stevens is a big part of Billy's solo career (and did "Dirty Diana" with MJ). His wife is on the Rock Star wife show. You can't miss her.
He still puts on a GREAT show. Don't miss it. There's some recent live clips up on You Tube, and all his videos from over the years are easy to find.
Also, if you can find The Who "Tommy" concert on DVD (NOT THE MOVIE, but the one with Phil Collins, Elton John, and Billy), he does such a great, over the top Cousin Kevin.
"Dancing with Myself" is a Generation X song that he wound up putting on his first solo album, but it's one and the same. You wouldn't consider Generation X "punk rock" once you heard it. If you've heard The Buzzcocks (and like Green Day, who played "Dancing With Myself" on the last tour), you'll like it.
I think because he's always around doing shows at clubs, people wind up overlook going to his shows.
