Farewell A-ha!

A-ha enter their last week of existance, as their year long "Ending on a high note" tour draws to a close.

Tonight I saw the final ever show in Britain, their home for many years, and it was as good as they have ever done. A true "hits" show as a final send off. For me the highlights were "The Last Harrah" and "Bandstand". It was great to have "I've been losing you" back in the set too.

It was sad to see them go, but at the same time, it was wonderful to see a band that has sold 35 million records retire at the top of their game, still filling arenas and sounds the best they have ever done. I'll miss em!

Have fun those of you (Same december!) going to the final show in Oslo!

yeah its gonna be a crazy week, i'll be there for the last 3 shows and the fan party, im also getting to go to the book signing for the "swing of things" im counting the days till the last show dvd release and lots more. This tour has hit every country but australia, playing markets that most artists cant even pronounce, this 80 date tour has been amazing, and despite it being over the members have been cool to do the things they have been doing, most bands ending, DONT do press, interviews, re-issues, dvds,etc....a-Ha from the start said they wanted to end it on top and they have done that.

sad sadly missed these guys in L.A which suck's. Became a big fan after East of the sun & Hunting High & Low last year.

But they had a great run cool

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Whether you are a fan or not, the band are a fine example of professionalism. The whole planning for the final year has been excellent.

I've been playing them all weekend and I can't believe I won't be getting any more excellent albums. Scoundrel Days, Minor Earth and Analague will for me sit firmly in my top 20 albums till my dying day.

luckily what they leave behind cannot be taken away, they will always be "that" band to me, over any other band that i grew up with, a-ha will always be more special. Musically cannot be touched.

their still in music, the have 16 solo albums between them to date.

Currently Magne Furholmen has the group Apparatjik which was the best new thing this year

Also Paul Wakktaar Savoy has had his own side group SAVOY with his wife, to date they have released 5 cds overseas, and more will come

And lead singer Morten Harket has had 5 solo albums to date, the last being "Letters From Egypt", and he will be doing more in the future too.

SO they arent stopping the music, they are stopping a-ha, and they are doing it with class and dignity, going out with their best record, best tour, why prolong things and stay together just to stay together? I think too many bands and artists lose that integrity by prolonging things and just carry on for the sake of carrying on, id rather a-ha end jointly in this respect with a tour and tons of other things that they have done this year (which they didnt have to, how many calling it quits, do press and promo and tours worldwide) then fall apart in some dispute (which there always have been in this band from day one) and turn into some BS he said this and that crap, and turning into some kind of Aerosmith type situation or something like that. a-ha are too classy and have to much pride and yes EGO to do it any other way.

Watched the first of the 4 finals shows in Oslo Spektrum yesterday, and they delivered the goods in a really good way. Morten has never been this good vocally... It's going to be quite emotional on Saturday, on their final day. To Lastdecember: Enjoy these shows and enjoy Oslo! biggrin

I posted a thread about my a-ha experience the other week it was one of the best gigs I have ever been to only eclipsed by a certain gentleman from Minneapolis. wink
It feels bitter sweet to me that they are splitting. Fantastic that I got to see them live but a real shame that I won't be able to ever see them again.
My Christmas list is very easy to compile this year. I want the albums from their back catalogue that I don't have yet!
I look forward to reading about lastdecember's experience and hope that everyone going to Oslo has an amazing time.
