Tiffany or Debbie Gibson? Seeing as though the Lil' Kim/Nicki Minaj feud is all that's talked about these days, I figured I'd go way back to a more benine rivalry that brewed in the late '80s between pop starlets Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. Debbie Gibson was the sugar to Tiffany's spice. Debbie had the writing and producing chops, and Tiffany had the throaty, sultry voice. Some people liked Tiffany. Others preferred Debbie. Who was your fave?

My brother had a 90 minute tape.
Side one was 45 minutes of whatever...
Side two was 45 minutes of "Only in my Dreams"
Over and over and over....
He looooved that shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways...I vote Tiffany.
At least she was kinda hot. She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies....

Debbie, but personally I'd pick Elizabeth Wolfgramm. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

If we're talking about musical talent, my vote goes to Deborah Gibson because she can play keyboard synths and write/compose her own tracks.
But if we're talking about photo shoots, then Tiffany definitely gets my vote, hands down!

I could listen to "Only In My Dreams" over and over; We had the 45 and I'm sure I did at one point
It's not that easy though. I don't like that many more songs by Debbie, so I definitely tip my hat to Tiffany.

I was a fan of both of these ladies during my middle school days. Tiffany had that kind of background where you just knew she would end up in Playboy. Debbie's homelife seened a little more grounded, and she always had that apple pie image, so I was definately shocked when she ended up in Playboy too.
They both had killer ballads
There was even the rare occasion when they were spotted together
I remember Tiffany's niche was that she played sold out shows in malls, where Debbie still holds the title of being the youngest female artist in history to write, produce and arrange a Billboard Hot 100 #1 song. The latest news is that they will both star in a SyFy movie to be released next year.

I vote Debbie because I have 5 of her songs in my library vs. only 1 Tiffany song.

THIS^ is the real definite Tiffany (power) pop ballad.

Tiffany's debut album murked Debbie's. Debbie had a relevant second album though.
Damn this is tough to call.

It must be said that Deborah was always the one with all of the uptempo tracks.
You have to be a total liar if you claim you never dance to THIS^ track. These other two tracks were Deborah sticking to that kind of vibe.

Liar.
In fact I was more of a Lisa Lisa fan.

Prince aficionadoes should note that that's Robia "Pearl" LaMorte in the Shake Your Love video. She can first be seen at the 0:03-0:05 mark, and is interspersed throughout the rest of the video. Also, Paula Abdul did the choreography for it. "Get up off that grey line"

Tiffany had a penchant for remaking oldies ("I Think We're Alone Now" and "I Saw Him Standing There"). Not many people know that "ITWAN" wasn't her first single, but this gem was:
I embraced her more grown-up early '90s image, in spite of the fact that it wasn't exactly greeted with open arms. This funky Babyface-esque track from her "New Inside" album was a standout

Both of them banged the Knight brothers from NKOTB!!!

Besides Debbie & Prince, Ms. LaMorte also worked for Michael during his History tour.

I've already knew about Tiffany & Jonathan, because that was a serious relationship. But I have no idea about Debbie & Jordan.

I knew about Tiff and Jon as well, but never about Deb and Jordan. I guess that was when Jonathan didn't realize he preferred boys over girls... "Get up off that grey line"
