Amerie new single "Outside Your Body"

I read she's working on a new album that will be out next year.

I like this song by her, and yes it has an 80s feel to it, complete with a sample from "Operator" by Midnight Star. lol

It's nice. I just hope she don't have any hip-hop in it though. It doesn't suits her talents to me.

Well as you notice as soon as she does something, Beyonce is right behind with her "the next album will sound live". But this is a good track, the album is called Cynmatica Volume 1, which deals with the experiments of sounds, and like i said, as soon as Amerie does something, her shadow is right behind her.

I was just listening to some 2002 Amerie* yesterday thinking "oh yeah, wasn't her album supposed to be out before Christmas 2010?" because it was announced months ago.

What does this song have to do with B's "sounding live"? This doesn't. Amerie doesn't seem to manage to create great songs, they're always okay but not more than that. One Thing is the only song of hers I've enjoyed.

I'm guessing you didn't hear her 2007 album, which is an import if you live in North America. The album that is hardest to get is ironically the one that best demonstrates her talent. Some theorists say Amerie's competition had the album blocked!

Anyway, I think a lot of that album is better than "One Thing" which is why I recommend it.

This is one track from an album first of all, second Beyonce said her new album, well experiment in all genres, which is exactly what this new album is doing. Also Beyonce has "great" songs? i must have missed something, i have been hearing Bills Bills Bills say my name theme on every song for a decade now. As for "live" sound listen to Amerie's "because i love it" record which was the best thing from an rb female in eons.

exactly, its not just rumoured, its fact that this record was blocked and shelved because of it. I like One thing but is nothing more than her calling card, people need to dig into the albums of artists, if they want to hear them, not just grab 20 second snippets from amazon and then say they "heard" the album.

I have to admit, I was expecting her last album to grow on me but it never really caught on with me. So if you were talking to her last singles being "okay but never great" then I could agree.

I'll ride for Because I Love It all damn day though.

I like it. I wasn't crazy about her last album, but it was a good effort. Her first two albums are still her best IMO. It's sad that she's seen as a poor man's Beyonce. She's far more creative than pretty much all of her contemporaries

I wasn't referring to B when I wrote "great songs", I meant in general. But I surely will need to take a better listen to her albums before I can really say what I think. I just haven't heard a song of hers I've immiediately fallen in love with. Unfortunately I am pretty sure that the biggest reason for that is not the songs but her voice. For me... it's hard to listen to. That's nothing that she can help or that can change. If you don't mind it that's cool, but for me it's tough on the ears in bigger portions.

Yeah i will agree on the last record though there were very strong cuts like "higher" which is still top notch for me, and then "Why R U" i thought was a strong lead single, but didnt catch with mainstream, which i can understand because Ameriie isnt a game player for the most part, she has been told she is "difficult" maybe because she seems to speak and use her mind much more than others. Outside of that i thought "Swag Back" was really strong too, i just thought that "Heard em All" wasnt a good follow up shot, and then to add insult to injury Def Jam lumps a rap by Lil Wayne on it which looked totally desperate, and almost every Ameriie fan hates that version.

But like u said i jump more towards Ameriie's work more than a Beyonce or whomever, because its more interesting, i like Beyonce dont get me wrong but she has been singing the same theme in her songs for over a decade, so for me, Ameriie fills the void for me that is lacking, she has alot of things going on that are interesting to me, more in the classic 70's rb female type.

Know i hear ya, and its all up to the listener, i dont think the reason Ameriie isnt played on the radio or widely is because of her vocals, i mean if thats the case you can cross off 90% of your top 100 songs right now, vocals skills dont get you played. To me her strength in vocal is i hear soul when she sings, or her vocal rasp, that to me says this girl is singing from somewhere within, im not big on slick production and vocals that are layered, and thats what alot of Beyonce or even Mariah or most of the strong voice ladies do. So what i meant with "live" sounds that was more what i was getting at, Amerie sounds like she was in the studio singing till her chords ripped out, Beyonce sounds like someone with a computer program pasted it all together. So dont get wrong i love me some Beyonce, but after a song or two im bored good vocals or not, its more her substance that has always been lacking.

I think she set the release for Febuary 2011, I could be wrong though.
