the album is much ado about nothing unless we can do something. Sitting around calling each other names won't change anything. how do we get to the bottom of this shit? Can the fans force the issue or do we have to play spoonfed consumer?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Eh I made up my own mind. I ain't gonna be a spoonfed consumer. Fuck that. I'll buy the Vision set though. That'll put money in their back pocket because least you won't spot a fake in his videos lol

and you won't here nobody wondering who's singing that, it's clearly the one and only. There shouldn't be any questions whatsoever.

LOL and like Michael would have, he got embarrassed when that one said that she wanted to make love to him and got the fuck out... thanks for posting!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Nah it's all good - petty fans would say he's just doing a Janet by appearing out of no where on the View, and it's not the first time he's worn one glove either...
but hey, no petty fans here right? lmao "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

He had both gloves on but took one off when he was holding the mic. I did chuckle when the fan said "I love you more".

So I have the physical copy of Michael in my hands, and it is good to be holding an album again of Michael's - just sad it had to come about this way.
The booklet is nicely done, with the centre spread showing the full artwork - hope they release it on vinyl to truly appreciate the detail of the art.
As for the music - as most of you on here know I stayed clear of leaks as I wanted to hear the album in total and fresh before having a point of view on things.
I will say I am impressed and think that the Estate and Sony did right by MJ in terms of putting an album together that holds well. The opening track I would have shuffled later but it's cool.
I won't go into too much detail about the tracks as the details have been shared by proper reviewers, but I will say there are elements of each song that I love and also get frustrated by - that's more in the overuse of "MJ" overdubs and adlibs. I always thought he put too many in normally, so I would have prefered they got pulled not added, lol.
Of the questionable tracks, I think MJ is on them (to what extent I've already covered in other posts), but Monster is obviously the most questionable with that vibrato action. What frustrates me more is that they buried Orianthi's killer guitar solo at the end of the track to where it is barely noticeable.
And whilst I love Behind The Mask - I don't get the whole crowd noise intro and in the bridge - that's something I'd expect a fan to do, not John McClain - and Shanice doesn't add anything so why put her in there??? It didn't need it. I would love to hear Daft Punk remix this.
On a whole most tracks suffer from lack of musical space. It's as if the producers unconsciously filled the musical gaps with more adlibs or spoken parts - sometimes the music is enough to carry a section.
The best produced track on here is Another Day. Lenny did a stellar job.
I'm glad I bought it and know I will be listening to it over and over.

And for those playing at home - Michael hits the top 10 spot in Australia itunes after 12 hours of sales. I expect him to climb over the weekend. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

is you referring to the vignettes in the PR concerts where he wore one glove for a bit and then would take it off and drop it? Oh beautiful memories. Back when both were young and having so much fun.

Its a damn shame we'll probably get answers about the authenticity of some of those tracks. Just wish a revelation would come out one way or the other so they can try again and this time do it right, or that we could all just enjoy it.
I've been really playing some of the tracks on the album over and over, and others I just keep skipping because they're so doubtful to me.

Yeah, the doubt really ruins some songs for me. Like "Keep Your Head Up". It's actually not a terrible song. But when I try to listen to it I keep thinking "that's so not Michael". So I just avoid those tracks (KYHU, Monster and Breaking News) completely.
Hey, I just noticed while I was typing that last bit that Keep Your Head Up doesn't abbreviate nicely like other MJ songs. When you abbreviate it, it looks like a sound effect out of a superhero comic ("KYHU!!!"). Not like other MJ songs with long (more than two or three words) titles. Like IJCSLY or TWYMMF or DSTYGE. That proves it's not Michael! lol [Edited 12/10/10 4:23am]

I just want to take a moment to rant about how Sony and the MJ Estate completely dropped the ball on this one. They were sitting on a gold mine. This should have been the easiest hit record anyone has ever released. The first posthumous album of the most famous recording and performing artist of the last half century. Sounds like a guaranteed smash hit, doesn't it? Not when Sony's got the ball.
June 25, 2010 on the first year anniversary of Michael's death they should have made a big announcement that they've been given permission by his family to release a song that Michael recorded in his final days (weeks, months). Then hit 'em with "Hold My Hand". Have Akon make the announcement too. That legitimizes it because Akon can make out that since he worked with MJ on it he knows MJ has given the song his stamp of approval and wants the fans to hear it. Then when it hits #1 on Billboard, announce a project to get a bunch of well-known producers to finish off some of Michael's unfinished work from his final years. Make it seem like Michael was in the middle of making a brand new album, and now people like Teddy Riley and Ron Feemstar are just finishing it off for him. Rather than a collection of unreleased MJ music from over the years. Give it six months, which brings us to now. Release "Hollywood Tonight" as the debut promotional single for the album. Not "Breaking News", in fact anything Cascio related doesn't come anywhere near this album.
I believe if that's how they played it, it would be massive and the first album in years to actually sell well, to sell like a Michael Jackson record. But that's not how they played it. So this is how they should play it now. The family needs to denounce and reject The Cascios, publicly and with much hoopla. Go on Oprah or something with evidence that they faked the three songs on Michael (e.g. find the real vocalist on those tracks and expose him). Then they need to hold a press conference to announce a do-over album that will be produced by Quincy Jones and Bruce Swedien who will full access to Michael's vault, and have help from more modern people like will.i.am. I believe that would be a massive hit. The combination of the publicity generated by the public exposing of the Cascios, as well as the excitement generated by the do-over and the speculation generated by hiring Quincy to do it. Quincy doing another MJ record... that's got to be a hit. They've just got to make sure it's really Michael this time. Even if that means letting some lucky fans hear the album before it's released. No one knows Michael's voice like his fans. I suggest Militant. He should be our (the fans) official ambassador for Michael Jackson authenticity. lol... but seriously though.

I agree. This could have been such an amazing release. It's sad to see Monster and Keep Your Head Up getting better reviews than Hold My Hand, Best of Joy and Hollywood Tonight. Lots ofnthe reviews are even saying it's better than Invincible. It just reaffirms why I never agree with most reviews. Really hoping we get some more details about some of these songs, it's all a bit strange to me. Somethings just not right.

Thank you! That really means a lot for you to say that. And you're so right - Sony dropped the ball BIG time here.
As an artist myself, this whole horror story scenario of passing away and then people putting out music by imitators and pretending it's you is just despicable. I'm trying to imagine how I'd feel and I hope for damn sure that my fanbase would see the truth and defend me, if it was me this had happened to. It's just outrageous. Like Mike said - "You'll do anything for money."
I hope Taryll sheds some more light on what he mentioned before, when he was talking about how much the Estate had paid for these fake songs. |

I love some of the songs! Great killer unreleased tracks. Most noteably "Behind The Mask" "Hollywood Tonight" and "Another Day".
Especially "Another Day"..the vocals Michael put on it were astounding and very emotional! I would love to play this one loud on a stereo system. Hold My Hand just does not live up to these jams in my opinion, and I cannot stand Akons voice. I still cant get into The Way You Love Me for some reason...hearing the unreleased version and the remixed released version...still it just seems too tame. Behond The Mask is very nice. I do like the When Doves Cry like keyboards on Hollywood Tonight. I wonder why no one bothered to even put "Do You KNow Where Your Children Are" on this set.
Im not even going to go there about Monster, Keep Your Head Up or Breaking News...it goes in and out from some dude trying his best sounding like Michael, to sounding like himself..whomever he is. His vibrato is very fast and forced with no accent...it is quite amusing.
Other than that ..it is pretty solid though...at least people will still hear mostly real Michael songs though. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
