If you're going to keep them you should probably file them under James Porte or whatever his name is. I wish you luck in finding MJ in those tracks...

My favorite MJ songs are the ones where I can tell he's singing.
I rate Keep Your Head Up as the best of the worst, and "most convincing impersonation". Hey, I could be wrong, and I'm cool with your choice. Musically, its not bad at all. And like I said, I could be wrong. I'm still waiting to see/hear more information.
But next to Hollywood Tonight and a couple of others, all the Cascio tracks rate very low for me.

Too funny!
Also, anyone know what year best of Joy is from?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Best Of Joy has to be recent, Mike's voice is older there.

Hmm just heard some more and i change my mind. Moving Hollywood Tonight up to 1#

Right when I clicked in this thread, the demo to Elton Johns demo "The King is Dead" came on .. Eh

Sounds like it could be Dangerous era?? Bit tricky to tell from that short clip. I guess nobody knew about this song until it was mentioned for this album?

OH GOSH! "Behind The Mask" has me going crazy! THATS the only track I want .. "The Way You Love Me" has been altered, but I like it. It's really smooth

Anyone got the clip from the Ellen show yet? |

Finally MJ has a dance track that just flows without overproduced Rodney Jerkins Beats. Hollywood Tonight has that feel good flow to it. Props to Teddy Riley and the New Jack Swing..

Thanks. Can't make out much from that clip though, the quality is poor. |

"Much Too Soon" has an added Accordion in the snippet...I don't think that's on the leaked version...Maybe some more additional instrumentatio in places.

According to a statement released by the estate giving details of each song Best Of Joy was "one of the last tracks" MJ was working on. So much later than I thought...

At least Monster had a decent production upgrade. Pretty poor before from a musical/mixing pov.

Hmm interesting. Sounds like he was going back to his soul roots on that one.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That's true. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, the instrumentation is a bit different. Haven't you heard the full version on iTunes Ping yet?

Jackie just tweeted that the report of the brothers doing those shows in Japan is false
maybe the posters on MJJC that were attacking them can shut the fuck up.....but i doubt it "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Not yet, no ITunes... I'll wait till the record come out to get it and review it then.

I remember hearing this in 2003...Is it legit or fake? Never got confirmation. Didn't he work with Barry Gibb on a song of the same name? Prayer for Peace.

I'm really feeling Hollywood Tonight, The Way You Love Me, Much Too Soon, Another Day, Hold My Hand
I think Behind the Mask has potential
the others are nice but I'm skeptical about the vocals or I'm just not into them yet.
Glad there's new music but I'm not jumping up and down like I was in the old days...I guess I really miss him being alive and his finishing touches though they are good songs [Edited 12/3/10 15:14pm]

Thanks for the HMV links
A sneak peak of the finished product is sooooo cool.
BTW have they slowed down the pace of "I like the way that you love me?" It feels in this iteration that they have slowed the tempo by a few bpm.
Funny thing - i loaded up Monster and clicked "Joy" by mistake - and was thinking "How can no-one see these are MJ's vocals", lol.
On Monster - I have only heard the snippet on the HMV site and again it makes me think that on all the Cascio tracks backing vocals and accents are others (probably credited to James Porte) - which in my book is ok. I'll have to reverse judgement on the lead vocals and see what comes from hearing the finished product.
On a whole I have to say I am more pleasantly surprised with the album and how it holds together than I was expecting to be.
Bring on Friday - oh and to that end - if it does get an advance release here in Australia by 4 days do you want me to shut up and wait or post my thoughts on the album? "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"

Thank you - I like the track from what I have heard. Similar backing arrangement to Who Is It - which isn't a bad thing in my books. "I'm not human I'm a dove, I'm ur conscience. I am love"
