Pirate Bay Founders Lose Court Appeal [img:$uid]http://i56.tinypic.com/10r7oe8.png[/img:$uid]

Three men involved in a file-sharing Web site have lost a bid to overturn their convictions in Sweden for facilitating pirating of copyright material.
An appeals court reduced the prison terms given the defendants in the Pirate Bay case. But it increased the compensation they must pay to $6.57 million, Tidningarnas Telegrambyra reported.
The court ordered Fredrik Neij to serve 10 months, Peter Sunde eight months and Carl Lundstrom, who bankrolled the enterprise, four months. They were originally sentenced to a year each.
Monique Wadsted, a lawyer for U.S. record companies, said she was pleased by the appellate ruling.
"It's a relief that the court of appeal finally affirmed that if you carry out this type of activity, you'll go to prison," she said. "In two years, this type of piracy will be over. After a ruling like this and all the pioneers start to get older and have children and families, piracy won't occur to this extent."
A fourth man is still awaiting trial.

By the time they squash this "type" of piracy, a dozen other better "types" will have emerged.

Being that you don't keep up with your Microsoft Security Updates, you're wise not to.

That's why I don't use them.
I hear these sites are Virus Centrals.

me too. i tend to just google the words containing 'artist', 'title' and 'blogspot' and see what i get. Or visit trusted places i've already been.
But if i wholeheartedly support the act, i'll probably just buy their shit.

I expected a "Touché", lol.
But the torrent sites aren't as bad for viruses as are those P2P clients (...like Limewire, WinMX, eDonkey, and the like). In fact, I don't believe I ever came across a virus in a torrent (...too many ways for them to be detected & removed before they get too far along). But with P2P, you're guaranteed to come across MANY viruses, regularly.

I got Web of Trust on my browser and some torrents have that "warning circle" sign.

It works though! God willing, using my brain and with purchased anti-virus, i've never had a problem.
