clapping "Mama, sit down for me please. Daddy, comfort her in this time of need..." touched

THIS was the song, and THAT was the time! ...and off I went, the rest was HIStory (or should I say... MYstory)

"Your one and only son has got to get away, before this ghetto life becomes the death of me..."

I miss Rick so much right now. And not the Rick that became a Dave Chappelle punch line, but the REAL Rick James. Rest Peacefully Bro (...till I get there!)

Thanks for that little memory Timmy!

You're welcome. I kept hearing that song and got mad at Dave Chappelle and Charlie Murphy for some reason. lol

Well, I take comfort in the fact that Rick himself was able to take part in the fun, and have a little laugh on his own behalf before he left us.

Rick and Roger Troutmans' departures were two that really left me feeling... well... OLD. Their music and influence will always hold a very special place in my heart. This song in particular always leaves me fighting back a tear (...for more reasons than a few).

True and I LOVE Rick's extended interview where you get a more coherent, if crazier, response from Rick about what Charlie said about him. lol

But yeah I feel you on that. When Rick and Roger died, I was shocked equally. I thought Rick was on his way back when he died and I had no idea about Roger and his brother having any "beef". I grew up listening to the both of them too though not in their heydays and it's sad they're not still here to continue to bless us with their talents.

You can get that clip on this DVD.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

And yes, 'Hollywood' is 'pure classic' he put a lot of heart into that song. 'Come Get It' is a masterful debut if you ask me; wall to wall classics!
