My Beautiful Dark Twisted fantasy

Masterpiece. Haven't heard an album this epic sounding in years. Hate or love him, you can't deny, the man is a genius.

Kanye succeeds being vulnerable, honest and even sometimes hurt on Dark Twisted Fantasy. It only falls short when his ego driven rants are on blast especially on the first couple of tracks, some featured guests coupld have been left off i.e. Monster and So Appalled; which does nothing for the album itself just like his last couple of featured guests on past albums that have no type of theme at all.

Kanye's music has alot of character and charisma. He probably will have trouble having any type of smash hit on this album ..not alot of that; but in the same time that what makes it excell...its personal truth and unflentching experimentation with guitars, sounds and samples.

That's going kind of faaaaar stretch (genuis) imo. When I think Genius I think Einstein, Thomas Jefferson, hell...George Clinton, Prince, MJ on a musical note...but Kanye still has years to come to say 'genuis'..come on...

The only reason I said he was a genius is cuz of the way he is experimenting and the way he is innovating the rap game. He puts so much heart and thought into his music. This album just sounds so brilliant, the production is so epic...it feels like you're watching an epic blockbuster.

Musical geniuses are Prince and Stevie Wonder. But Kanye West is building a legacy.

I like that.."building a legacy". That is definitley true. Just about his whole discography outshined anything Jay Z came out with since the Blueprint 1..more experimental, 'mental' and thoughtful than his 'big bro' has been in a long time.

Blame Game is so....crazy...I was kind of lost in the song this morning.

Man if he only took off Monster (which has nothing to do with the theme of the album and has weak lyrics imo) and So Appalled (which is more of the same thing, and almost like another version of Drive Slow) I would have been more floored....I took them off my ipod tho...

I'm trying to give this album a fair shot, but something about the mix seems awfully distorted. Could it be that I have a bad "copy"? Or is the bass so awesome in the mix that it takes special equipment to play it? What am I missing?

I'm trying really hard to love it, like so many others. But it's not happening for me... YET.

Some of it chops. It happens with mine too.

See the problem is that you may have been told you have to love it..then when you listen to it you are let down instead of feeling suprised by it in the end. I did not read any reviews really until I bought the album and listened to it myself. Always ruins the experience if someone tells you to like it

What do you mean when you use the expression "Some of it chops"? (I'm not familiar with that expression boxed ) Because it's not the songs I'm having issues with, it's the quality of the mix.

I'm wondering; is there any sort of "copy protection" device being used on this CD which prevents an accurate rip to lossless or MP3?

When the bass or sound is too high on a mix the word use to call the audio going too high over in a mix is called chopping...little accidental 'click' sounds made in the speaker itself or the mix.

I do not think so..you can even scan the disk and turn it into a WAV file if you would like and re burn it...still will be a little lossy. I bought mine off of itunes, while still not as good quality as the cd or vinyl would be ..it only cost 8.99; which is awesome in my case.

Oh, okay thanks. I've always known that as "clipping".

Yeah, no - that's not what I'm hearing, it's more like full-on distortion. Actually, I hear the same thing whenever I try to listen to Taio Cruz as well. If I lower the bass setting real low (minimally) on my system, much of the distortion goes away, but so does much of the bass, lol. It's just unusual that I don't have that problem with any other recently released Rap or Hip Hop CD's.

Epic album indeed. And in terms of hip hop there arent any artist pushing the envelope nowadays. Depending on the mainstream success of MBDTF, it could very well become the "measuring stick" for other artist and labels.

Now you can get the MP3 download of Kanye's new LP for free on Amazon.com:

okay guys u need to create a new amazon account regardless if you already have one. then go redeem this free $3 mp3 download from this link. Use Code GET3MP3S and Get... Downloads

once you redeem that code, you have to preorder an album that is not yet released, for example "no mercy" by t.i.. if u preorder a cd on amazon, you get a $1.00 promotion credit mp3 download.
after you get the credit for the album preorder, you can cancel the preorder on the album and you will still recieve the $1 promotion mp3.

so now in total, you have $3 + $1 = $4 of amazon credit mp3.

kanye west's my beautiful dark twisted fantasy is on sale at amazon for $3.99

hurry and do it before amazon changes the price. today is the last day at the price of $3.99

Great, great album. Outstanding production. The less expectations you have and the less of it you have heard before, the better it will be. And it gets better with each listen too. I am really enjoying this fine album.

I honestly enjoyed the album. And i'm hard to please especially when it comes to modern music, i wouldn't give it a full 5/5 IMO but a 4/4

5/5 For me is perfect which few albums are, but this album i really listened to the lyrics. And Kanye can write some good stuff, he is self indulgent and arrogant yes. But the depth is what matters and he is really reaching here, and the production is great to!

All The Lights with it's beautiful instrumental is just a hell of a song. Showing what Kanye can do

So Appalled gave great social commentary, wicked verses and awesome samles

Lost In the World, is an interesting track that i found myself going back to, the sound is interesting with the distorted voice. Not quite auto tuneish Thank God and lyrics just really grab me.

Hell Of A life is my 4th favorite track

Check out hose 4 if nothing else!

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I wasn't crazy about So Appalled but it has grown on me. I would now say my least favorite is The Blame Game which I just skip over when it comes on. I also don't likethe song with Beyonce on it. Eventually I will take those 2 off my Ipod. Other than that this album is the bomb! Kanye has done it again. Yeah, he might be arrogant but he has the talent to back it up. Genius!

I don't understand how more people aren't hearing that. My guess is that Kanye probably tried to handle the entire mixdown and mastering of the tracks on his own, rather than having allowed the trained studio engineers to handle the business they've been trained for. It sounds like he may have gone for the mix that sounded good in HIS headphones, rather than a mix that studio techs would have known to be right for CD production.

Furthermore, it feels to me like some folks are responding to Kanye on an emotional level more so than for the quality of this particular project. Nevertheless, on a personal level; I wish Kanye happiness and peace of mind.

Why you dont like Blame Game? Its so.....weird...and honest..brutally honest..almost as much as Runaway. Catchy chorus too. It is very arrogant in parts and funny. The Chris Rock bit was cute at first but I can find myself skipping over that in the future..it gets kind of long winded...I do like the sampled "Yeezy taught me..". lol rolleyes

Agree with most of this (although CD is still my favorite - he can be funny as hell when he wants to be).

I also agree he's really going to have a ton a hit singles off this thing. But I am glad it's much more interesting than Graduation. A- in my book.
