Has everyone lost their minds!?? This IS NOT that good! I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars....4 star if it didn't use so many samples. I look around everyone is calling the album perfect. Just leaves me scathing my head.

that's what I was thinking about...

a modern rap album that gets a 5 out of 5 means that it's as good as Raising Hell, It Takes a Nation of Millions, Death Certificate, The Chronic, Illmatic or even the Marshall Matters LP...

So, I'm asking you all: is this album that good?

NO...I will give it a 8 out of 10...some of the guest appearance songs have no merit or deservance to be on the album because they did not fit with the theme. In my opinion.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Unlike Michael, he's not interested in scrubbing away bits of himself-- his blackness, his candidness-- to appease the masses.

lolwat?! I don't get this. What do they mean 'scrubbing away blackness'? How can you do that? How is that possible? Do they mean physically or by the way you act? Wtf defines 'blackness'? Acting like Kanye?!

A bit difficult comparing to albums so old, but it is definitely on the level of like an OutKast classic album.
I think it is Kanye's best.
Anyway, check it out.

His vitiligo/turning white.

In reality, I think that it could mean that MJ was bleaching his skin and/or the author is trying define 'blackness' or what it is to be 'black.' Which is wrong. Either way, I think that the comment is hella' terrible.

first ten they've given to a new release since 2002. Big deal, sadly.

This is the first actual non-reissue to get a perfect 10.0 since Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot received a 10.0 in 2002.

Pitchfork is trying to get noticed again.

I don't think they need attention. They're more powerful than ever.

It's big branding choice on their part.

I am one of the few who loved "808s & Heartbreak," but I am glad he moved on from that sound. I do think this is one of his better works. I like it more than "Graduation," for sure. It's feels rich and epic even if it doesn't seem as coherent as "808s". I've only listened to it a couple times but the stand out tracks for me are "All the Lights" "Power" and "Monster". I like plenty others but those three are true gems.

Looks like he'll come in at #1, beating Nikki Minaj. This pleases me, having heard both CDs (not fair to compare, I know but still....*ahem*)

Wouldn't have to be that way if people can write a music review without mentioning the big M.

They're not bigger than Kanye though. That's why it seems like Ritchdork dickriding to me.

It sorta seems like that to me too. And you're right, he'll sell no matter what they score him.
