Realistically, 180-190k is a good first week tally for any artist these days. More importantly, she's on track for 500k worldwide this week. The album will no doubt eventually scan 1 million+ in the US and outsell Rated R worldwide. That's a lot more than you can say for most artists these days and somehow, I don't think she's hurting.

There aren't too many artists with two singles being played heavily on radio right now. I don't think anybody said that when Janet opened with figures like that. Nobody said that when Mariah was set to open with that amount last year. But now, that figure is pretty good???? Excuses excuses

exactly, they were called flops from the door and they are far from their commercial primes.

She's a pop artist, her songs are catchy and she brings attitude and personality to them - what more do you expect? Sure, it'd be great if she learned to dance but it's really not that serious.

Weird, IMO she's on the hottest tracks on both Kanye's and Minaj's discs. I do like "Loud," I must admit. It's not quite as interesting as "Rated R" but it's a logical step from the darkness. "Loud" is where she probably would've gone next if she hadn't taken a detour due to the power fists.

"Man Down" is my fave song on the CD. She should do more dancehall like this as I think it fits her voice the best. "Rum bum bum bum...Man down! Oh mama, mama, mama, I just shot a man in Central station..." Gem! Other faves: "Complicated" "Skin" "Only Girl" "What's My Name" and "California King Bed"

Her CD came in 3rd and a bit higher than projected (perhaps because of the AMAs?) with 210K. This is her highest first week sales. It's not as high as you'd expect for someone with two #1 singles, but didn't Katy Perry do around that number? If I'm not mistaken, she had two #1s as well.....

http://www.billboard.com/#/news/weekly-chart-notes-rihanna-gwyneth-paltrow-1004130545.story

FOUR-MIDABLE: Having set the record for most No. 1s in the 18-year history of Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, Rihanna continues her winning week, lifting 2-1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Only Girl (In the World)" and debuting on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums at No. 1 with her fifth studio album, "Loud."

"Only Girl (In the World)" follows "What's My Name?," the Drake-assisted second single from "Loud," to the Hot 100 summit. Having banked two No. 1s previously in 2010, Rihanna becomes the first female artist in the Hot 100's 52-year archives to notch four No. 1s in a calendar year.

that kanye...lol...he said something similar about Nikki Minaj recently. I'm guessing he meant successful and not necessarily great as in the most talented. #noshade #justsayin'
