Heard Much to Soon, thanks to that guy, bboy i thinks his name...i think he's a the greatest MJ fan ever.

Anyway, Only had 2 listens so far. On one hand, it's amazing, sure and it's very catchy....but, on the other, it's got some extraordinary melodic instrumentation going off there, with the harmonica, acoustic and most of all, unreal strings. What actually charmed me to love this track better than the rest of the new so far, is that it took Mike back to another level, no, not Off The Wall, i'm talking Music & Me...Something Don't Walk Away did, and very well at that. It may be a demo, as his voice is only always there, but it's enough to get the gist....and it's a keeper for me. It WHOLLY takes him out the pop machine, which is the one thing he just always did often enough (which is/was never my problem with him at all.). 1000/10

~

On a side note, i watched Mj ad libbing to Earth Song live on Youtube by chance yday and if he had just continued the theatrics, singing, continuing to dance like he's still 25 etc etc from the latter concerts and live band (Which he really did for TII, but totally used them effectively imo) and performed like he did in that clip to a mature sound (seeing as he was 50!) with that band, a lot of my excitement with the man would of exploded because he has the voice and adventurous nature. Just anything especially with a chorus! Got experimental or something...The pop thing was exhilarating.

Oh, it would be good to actually share love rather than butthurt replies...because let's face it, that makes you look like you just can't handle your perfect god being praised.

so my campus newspaper received a copy of Michael Jackson : Vision, the new 3-disc DVD set of videos. I've been tasked with reviewing it.

Anybody planning on buying this/excited/dreading/have thoughts on it?

It's obviously a cash-grab. The packaging and booklet are nice. The videos themselves aren't quite as clean as I'd expected... they're supposedly remastered but they sure don't look much better than they do on other collections. The audio is PCM Stereo 24bit/48k...

The menus are unremarkable. No BLu-Ray version...

I watched a few on the Bonus Disc. "Can You Feel It" is a pretty awesome, trippy video, I'd never seen it before.

The unreleased "One More Chance" is really odd, mostly lousy. It's a dull clip in which Michael just sort of walks around before a stage full of people cheering him on. You almost never see his face, and his dancing is almost nonexistent. It's nothing exciting.

Thoughts, anyone?

I've been reading some of the reviews on fan forums and several feel they should've done a lot better. the general opinion I've read is they didn't remaster the videos, they didn't do much with the audio, but the packaging is better than past compilations

A lot of fans are hoping they do a Blu Ray version down the line

Anything to get a discussion about the music going.

With all the debate of late about the music I thought it nice to give it a positive spin.

And anything that makes you weigh up tracks and make selections is always fun in my books.

And babybugz - you know you are already compiling yours razz

Typical. They have a chance to do something neat and instead they do something subpar. At any rate, its the videos themselves I want so all's well, I suppose.

One More Chance was never completed, and its actually Mike, so its okay that its nothing spectacular. Its just a way to give the fans his last music video.

I haven't gotten it yet, but its supposed to arrive tomorrow.

On a separate note, another clip of Carry On was leaked.... sounds totally horrible, nothing like Michael Jackson in my opinion. Far worse than Breaking News or Keep Your Head Up.

Most of the discussion I've seen is about the original clip, which I admit sounds a little like Mike (though not enough for me, that's for sure).

The new clip though.... it's probably as bad or worse than the Monster snippet.

There's got to be a catch here. They can't possibly be putting those vocals on a Michael Jackson album? When you put those tracks alongside tracks like Keep Your Head Up or Much Too Soon, I reckon people who don't pay attention to this madness will even notice the difference.

Ugh! I knew there was a reason I didn't join a MJ forum after MJNO closed down.

(Technically I did create an account at MJJC but hardly ever use it - we are talking

like 4 times a year if that.) Since MJ's passing, I can only imagine that place is

as big of a bitch to post at, as it is to maintain. It is sad the good fan run stuff

is more or less gone. King Magazine is dead right?

I remember reading a post recently from "Black and White" magazine and went

WTF? When did it come back to life? Is it english? More information please.

I kinda miss getting MJ magazines in the mail. That was a big part of my childhood.

P.S.

My hearts go out to the loyal MJ fans who were around during the dark hours

of Michael's personal life and have to deal with these bandwagon fans now,

mixed with the drama of the sham-album coming out next month. So much drama.

confused

It should be news to no one that Michael Jackson, in the midst of becoming musical supernova, also revolutionized what was once treated as a casual marketing tool by most record labels and recording artists: the musical video. Ever-conscious of the power of image, The King of Pop applied the same exacting standards to the visual representations of his songs as he did to the lyrics, production and vocals, transforming them into stunning mini-musicals and movies. Those who are satisfied by occasionally cueing them up via youtube may not see the point of yet another DVD collection, but hardcore MJ fans will certainly enjoy how his masterpieces are restored and re-mastered and in this new three-disc set.

Visions comes in the form of a 6x9 fold-over case and a 30 page book that's encased in a durable plastic sleeve. The cover is created with 18 ‘dancing' photo images, and after a brief forward, each page of the book contains stills or insider shots from each video, with songwriter and album credits, director listings and even the primary production location. Each video begins with an updated montage (the red leather jacket unzips to real "Beat It," an Egyptian motif dissolves into swirling dust before revealing "Remember the Time," etc.), and where fans will really get their money's worth is from the significantly upgraded sound and picture quality: the lines and colors are clearer, taking the viewer back to that magical moment when it was exerienced for the very first time, and the sharper sound provides equal richness and resonance to any dialogue or effects layered on top of the music. This enhances the percussive backbone of "Smooth Criminal," the plaintive, swelling strings in "Childhood" and even for the gospel-tinged "Cry," the only video where MJ makes no appearance, but his grandiose vision for the song is practically tangible, punctuated with atmospheric angles, a melting pot of extras and lush, vivid landscapes, which broaden its scope and impact.

For those who are wondering where The Jacksons are acknowledged, that would be Disc 3: gloriously revitalized versions of "Blame It On the Boogie," "Enjoy Yourself" and thankfully, "Can You Feel It," which, on previous collections, had the music washed out by the voiceover and sound effects---here, however, they're on even keel instead of in competition, which serves to magnify the song's magnanimous message. Also included is the alternate ‘prison version' of "They Don't Care About Us," "Say Say Say," "Why" (his collaboration with Tito's sons, 3T) and the rarely-seen video for the underrated ballad, "One More Chance." The straight-forward storyline----MJ performing in an empty club on chairs and tabletops as an adoring crowd cheers his every move----creates a fitting end.

31 videos, running four and a half hours long, that encompass nearly 40 years of groundbreaking innovation and entertainment. Whether you want to treat yourself or that still-grieving MJ fan in your life, it's indeed worth the time and money to rediscover these incredible Visions. Enthusiastically Recommended.

I didn't include any Motown Mike or J5/Jacksons material on my list for the mere fact that it would have been pretty much impossible for me to do.

Buttercup is the shiz though. Absolutely lush beat.

Is anyone else tired of TII being used as a performance catalog?

I mean everybody and the ugly ass mama, got a chance to use the technology from TII,but Mike!

Justin Bieber performance last night ridiculous,I mean all he did was MITM from the 88' grammys.

And used the same screen backdrop from TII.

All they have to do is point to the screen, get anything they want, and get credit for it like they came up with it!

That pisses me off!

Im just waiting for someone to use the bigass 3D screen,or has someone already used it?

On a side note, i watched Mj ad libbing to Earth Song live on Youtube by chance yday and if he had just ditched the theatrics, miming, trying to dance like he's still 25 etc etc from the latter concerts and got a live band (Which he kinda did for TII, but didn't use them effectively imo) and performed like he did in that clip to a mature sound (seeing as he was 50!) with that band, a lot of my frustration with the man would of eased. The pop thing was tired.
