Hold My Hand was recorded at The Palms though - a more professional studio than what I assume the Cascio's set up was.

Also anyone in a studio will tell you different mics will give you different vocal treatments. As will processing, gating etc.

We are all use to Bruce Swedien's mic arrangement and genius engineering as well, so comparisons will differ.

Again hopefully this gets resolved soon enough but I doubt it will to anyone's satisfaction.

Not a valid argument my dude.

As I said, I record professionally in multi-million dollar studios all the time. Just this past Summer, for example, I was at Metalworks in Toronto mixing for 3 days. That's the studio where Prince recorded Musicology, and you KNOW a studio is good if Prince records there, especially since he has his own studios at Paisley Park.

Now, the total cost of my home studio in my bedroom is less than $1000 dollars. I have a couple of budget mics, a simple audio interface, my PC and some instruments. I don't even have professional audio monitors at home right now. I write my songs in my home studio, do some light mixing, and then I take all the multitracks to my cousins REDONKULOUSLY expensive studio where the room itself was purpose built from scratch as a recording studio, he has a full Pro Tools rig and some of the most expensive gear money can buy. So, I take my demo's there and mix the music there properly, use the home vocals as guide vox and then re-record the vocals properly on an incredible mic that costs a few grand with an amazing preamp.

If you play a mix I did at home with the final versions back to back, the difference is clear. One sounds like a guy in his bedroom with budget equipment and one sounds like a million dollar professional mix that could be any song in the Billboard Top Ten (in terms of professionialism and engineering). But no matter what, it's always obviously the same guy. No matter how much the vocals are processed. It's still me. It's obviously me on both versions.

Michael could jump into the bottom of a well and record a vocal on a $10 tape recorder, and I bet everything I own that I could take that hypothetical tape and run the vocal through every single vocal processing plugin and effects unit in my cousins studio and you would still be able to tell it was Michael.

And of course, the flipside of that is that Jason Malachi or James Porte could walk into literally the most expensive studio in the world with the best gear, hell they could even have a 24 hour sesson with Seth Riggs entitled "How to sing like Michael Jackson" and then process the living fuck out of whatever they recorded with Bruce Swedien pulling out every trick in the book....and we would STILL be able to tell that it's NOT Michael.

I understand you are trying to be balanced here, but there's no excuses for why these vocals don't sound like Michael. There's no excuse as to why they have nothing in common with the hundreds of songs MJ recorded over the best part of 40 years. They sound different because they are coming from a different person. Period.

And they've layered in adlibs and samples from other Michael songs to obfuscate the truth and to try and trick people.

Posts like this show us just how much evidence there is for MJ ALWAYS sounding like MJ, even when recorded on a dictaphone, down a well, upside down and eating KFC at the same time! lol

So if you don't think it sounds right, it's because it ain't him!!! If you think it sounds like him, well, then there's nothing more to say. I'm glad that considering the nature of this discussion it has mostly remained pretty civilised and repectful. NEEDS to be that way cool

Well, that instrumental sounds better than all heard so far. All trax have been poor besides DYKWYCA which was a 5/10. Even though this instrumental, if him, is predictable, it sounds vintage MJ. The synth strings, although looped, sounded nice.

Im a troll? LOL...ok....I"ve been to two MJ concerts and both im sure were before you were a fan. Triumph and Victory tour at Dodger Stadium in LA. I was also there when Mike got his star on Hollywood BLVD. My wife i will not point her out out because she doesn't wan't me be embarass her. But she was in the 1984 pepsi billie jean commercial. Not the version with dude from fresh prince, but the live concert looking version which is where MJ hair caught on fire and he was waving from the ambulance like a actor with a 200 million dollar script.

You tell them! There is nothing like a MJ fan that remembers MJ before the Thriller era. I notice most of the hard-core fans, who think they know it all, tends to remember MJ from the Bad era onwards, but that is nothing. By the time Bad came around MJ had already past his prime, something that all the Bad/Dangerous era fans can't bear to hear.

"Hold My Hand" debuted at number-one on Belgium's Ultratip chart on the Flanders side of the country and number twenty-five on the country's chart on the Wallonia side (yes Belgium has two separate charts). It debuted at number twenty-eight on the Dutch singles chart.

So because of that, you believe "Breaking News" and "Keep Your Head Up" is Michael?

That's not the point...you get fans saying because they have been fans of MJ for 20 years they think they know it all. If you want to dispute his voice on the recording, saying you know because you became a fan around the Dangerous era is not saying much, considering MJ career started over 40 years ago and he had fans dating back to that time. There is no point calling someone a troll because he/she doesn't agree with whether a voice sounds like MJ, on the basis of how long they have been a fan.

Quincy's senile ass still saying "I lost my baby brother" lol yeah I still hold that grudge to what he said following Michael's death but whatever. He also said Michael's family hasn't thanked him for what he did for Michael. "Of course Michael thanked me but that's about it", he says. He also said of Joe Jackson after Joe said Joe saw Michael record his post Jackson 5 work that Papa Joe was "a liar" and that he "hated him to death" or at least that's what I heard. Of course he got interviewed by Roger Fried Chicken lol

This is just your opinion and hardly a fact. Past his prime at what?

As a songwriter, he didn't even hit his peak until the mid 90's. The Bad era was his peak as a dancer. And vocally, he did things in the 90's that blow away much of what he was doing in the 70's and 80's.

And as far as total artistic vision, Bad and Dangerous were his peak. Look at the full videos for things like "Smooth Criminal", "Leave Me Alone", "Remember The Time" and "Black Or White". That stuff is on a whole next level to anything he had done prior. The tours, too.

You seem like you have a chip on your shoulder about something. But from an unbiased perspective, all of the above are straight up facts. Maybe it's YOU that can't bear to hear that.

As for seeing Michael up close, while I may not have been in an advert like BabyBeMine's friend or whatever, I WAS at the HIStory tour at Wembley in London. Not that any of that stuff really makes any difference, my manager's wife was one of the main people responsible for the marketing of "Thriller" as she used to work at Epic, and therefore knew Michael and had meetings with him on a regular basis. Doesn't make her opinion any more valid than anyone else's unless it's to do with something she had a direct involvement with.
