Anyone watch the free movie available? It's an entire concert, their first in the USA.

Actually pretty hilarious, it is a concert in the round, and they are moving equipment themselves in between songs, moving amps, mic stands, spinning the drum riser, cords getting all tangled, microphones not working... lol

But they sound pretty damn tight despite the pandemonium.

It was a tradition to throw jelly beans at them, but apparently in England they jelly beans not have hard outer coatings. So at this show these little rocks were pelting them from all directions. lol

That is my point.

True, I know I am not downloading them, but just a few years ago the latest compilation "1" was one of the biggest sellers of the decade. Their remasters were all on the charts last year. They just keep selling.

Plus people keep discovering them. I am sure they will be huge sellers on iTunes.

Ringo said he got it the worst, because he couldn't move around like the other 3. They also said the audiences just paid to hear screaming, because no one could hear anything else. They couldn't hear themselves, that's why they rarely varied the set list, they were just plaing off visual cues.

That's why it's pretty amazing how tight they sounded. Especially during I Wanna Be Your Man, Ringo's mic obviously was not working, but they hit all of the changes despite being hit on all sides by jelly beans and the threat of a mob of women eating them alive.

I have always admitted they are not the best band, technically speaking, but they were really tight.

and this was only for 18,000. I can imagine 50,000 fans at an outdoor stadium would just be laughable.

It's too bad, though, because soon afterwards the concert technology caught up to the crowd size/noise.

I don't have it either. I've never actually seen one except on TV. I still have a cassette deck. A CD changer is as far as I got. I don't download. They don't sound good and I like having an item, preferably records as they sound the best and has the largest artwork. I have no interest in modern technology. I've never owned a cell phone, or a beeper for that matter. lol

Nah seriously I have used external hard drives that had a lot of MP3s on it. I guess you could call it an MP3 player, my brother let me use it when I wanted to check what songs I can use for CDs. I do plan on getting something like an MP3 player for Christmas (but for me, since I don't really ask for things anymore in the holidays). I just wonder if I can find a one with a very cheap price.

Like I said I ain't old fashioned lol

I tried iPod before. The Nano. Man blame it on my laptop but it kept lagging every time I was trying to go into it. Don't know why lol Of course you had to go on iTunes for that. I remembered when I did enjoy having one, because you could import your MP3s from your hard drives on there but it became a hassle later so I just stopped messing with it. lol If I do mess with it again, I'm gonna buy like 100 gift cards. lol

The main problem I have with the iTunes Store (not the jukebox portion, which I love) is that in the Store, you are paying top-dollar for LOSSY music . . . often costing more than their CD counterparts.

Why buy an AAC (MP4) album from iTunes for $12.99 when you can get the actual CD for $9.99 or less and just rip it yourself?

The article is correct: this will appeal to the older generation who maybe never had the CDs at all, or the younger generation who just want a few songs. Either way, they're going to sell huge on iTunes.

I don't even have it anymore. lol I got a desktop now that my brother built for me and I've found a way to get back free space that it usually eats up. smile No I don't have an external but I plan on getting one. smile

My laptop only had 5 GB in the C drive. And I had put all that shit on there. If I had known what I know now, I could've saved it from seeing all those "low disk errors" because there was shit I could've easily deleted. lol Hidden files and folders, always check that. thumbs up! lol

Agree, but I do like the fact that more casual fans can d/load individual tracks if they choose. Might lead to even more folks getting into their albums, especially among the younger generation

emusic.com is the way to go folks. seriously.. if you haven't tried it yet, you should. it's a subscription service and renews monthly, and the average price of a single track is much cheaper than iTunes, and they are DRM free. And they have a MASSIVE and diverse selection that is getting bigger daily.

I love it when my emusic subscription renews, and i get my 100 new d/loads. it's like Christmas every month, heh.

The Beatles Sell 2 Million Songs on iTunes in First Week!

November 23, 2010

A week after Apple's history-making announcement that the Beatles LP catalog would now be available digitally, iTunes announced Tuesday the first week numbers and they're, not surprisingly, impressive.

The Fab Four moved more than 450,000 full-length albums in that time and another two million songs, according to a rep for iTunes.

The most popular download? "Here Comes the Sun," which was written by George Harrison for the Beatles' seminal 1969 album Abbey Road, which also landed at No. 6 on the iTunes album charts, wedged between Keith Urban's Get Closer at No. 5 and Taylor Swift's Speak Now at No. 7.

The specially-packaged Beatles Box Set, which includes the worldwide iTunes exclusive Live at the Washington Coliseum, 1964, the band's first ever U.S, show, also just made the top 10.

“It’s fantastic to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around," Paul McCartney said in the original Beatles on iTunes announcement from Nov. 16.

Indeed, fans are still showing their love of the Beatles with their wallets.

I love it when my emusic subscription renews, and i get my 100 new d/loads. it's like Christmas every month, heh.

They're the pioneers of digital downloads, built a working model of digital music rights and royalties that everyone now does. Back then, all the major labels were reluctant to embrace it. They were on a witch hunt (and still are), and not paying attention to how to make it work, get the artists, publishers, etc paid. They (with some help) figured that all out.

They had risen from the ashes of mp3.com, a company who used to "buy" stacks of used CDs, when they were done ripping them, exchanged them for more, until the store owners caught on to it, and put an end to that. Not to mention they didn't get permission from the artists, and folded.

Emusic hired some industry vets who started sending paperwork out to publishers and musicians to get permission, and a lot of them were reluctant to jump on, but when they started getting checks sent directly to them, they felt better about that than they did their own record label. But they had a TON of public domain music to work with, a handful of indie musicians, and when the industry vets went to work with them, started getting bigger deals. It was when they got a deal with Koch Records (there was a connection between the two companies) that they made some serious cash.

I thought they were cool because it was a good way of finding interesting and obscure songs, even out of print stuff.. odds were, they had it up on their site.

Want to know why? William Hung "She Bangs". They had the song available for download.

And then they started selling live concerts, known music critics reviewing for them, and then wound up getting major label artists, and including their product on every non-Apple mp3 player.

I think McCartney has songs on there. Only a matter of time until The Beatles are.

Beatles Sell More Than 5M Digital Downloads On ITunes!

Link

The Beatles have sold more than 5 million songs since making their November 16 iTunes debut, says a spokesman for the online retailer.

In that time, the legendary group has also moved more than a million full-length albums.

Each of the Beatles’ 13 studio albums, including Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver, The Beatles [The White Album] and Abbey Road, was remastered for digital release and along with the recordings, Apple designed a full album experience including visual features and a mini-documentary about the creation of each album.

Single albums have a download purchase price of $12.99 each, double albums go for $19.99 each and individual songs are $1.29 each. The most popular song download? "Here Comes the Sun," from 1969's Abbey Road, which is the band's top-selling album on iTunes.
