This new Boy George song has taken me COMPLETELY by surprise Call this the surprise of the year....
Boy George has released his BEST single since "The Crying Game".
The song is called "Somebody To Love Me".
It's technically credited as Mark Ronson and the Business International but make no mistake....this is George's moment.
The video is STELLAR....and oh so 80's.....
CHECK IT OUT!

I prefer "Record Collection" featuring Simon LeBon.

It's a great song, but I don't think it's fair to give Boy George all the credit. He's not one of the songwriters. All he did was show up and sing. The song was written by Cathy Denis who is an amazing writer and also Jake from the Scissor Sisters among others. Also, the song is a duet with Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow whose vocal is just as good if not better than George's. It's not a George solo song with just him singing. I think the video was very clever to get someone to play George in his 80's look. That look was so much part of his appeal. His current look is such a major turn off. George's career went downhill partly because he wasn't able to maintain the earlier sweet doll like look everyone loved. [Edited 11/17/10 15:57pm]

it is a brilliant song, and one of my top favorites of 2010 for sure. Beautifully produced, and outstanding songwriting. George and Andrew Wyatt both deliver note-perfect performances for the feel and vibe of the song. Mark Ronson is definitely one of the most talented producers out there right now. Love alot of his stuff. * * *

I really enjoy completely ignoring Mark Ronson and everything he does.

I definitely think he's overrated. I"m not clear what he does, and what the other people involved in his projects do. For example, Amy Winehouse wrote a lot of the songs on her album and Somebody to Love Me was co-written by several other people who are known as talented songwriters. It seems to me that he is someone who kind of takes more credit than he deserves when a lot of other people are involved in the songs he's done that are hits. He's the classic example to me of someone who's more famous than good. Something about the way he talks rubs me the wrong way. He mumbles! It will be interesting to see how the Duran Duran album turns out which is the new project he is hyping right now.

I liked this a lot! (might become obsessed with this song) I love Boy. It's more of a "featuring Boy George" kind of thing IMO.
It's a girl playing him in the video, no?? [Edited 11/17/10 20:46pm]

And because of the fact he was (is?) a major drug addict?

I said partly! Yes, but there are so many musicians who use drugs and have been able to maintain a career more than he has so that's not the only factor. Actually, he changed his look away from the feminine look people loved by cutting his hair before he got on drugs. He only really started using drugs after CC's success went downhill, which was around the time he went for a more masculine short hair look.

He also sings parts of the bridge (after Andre Wyatt sings in falsetto).
